"Anyong."
I looked up at the bigger boy that looked down at me confused by the fact I was playing alone.
"Hello." I said quietly back not quite sure of what he had said.
"You don't speak korean do you?"
I just blinked stupidly at him and he looked past my shoulder at the sad excuse of a sandcastle I had made. Seeing him eyeing it, I decided to offer him my bucket half full of sand.
After a second he took it with a smile. He held up the bucket. "Yangdongi." He sat down next to me and poured the sand out inbetween us. "Morae."
I tilted my head at the weird way he spoke. I tried to imitate it but it made my tongue feel equally as weird and foreign. I stuck it out and did a raspberry as if it would shake of the odd feeling. The boy just laughed and patted my head as if to tell me good job for trying. I looked up at him and studied his smiling face. He had dark hair that just barely reached his eyes though it was shorter cut in the back and his brown eyes were bright and lively.
So warm..
He pointed to himself.
"Jaejoo." He said slowly. "Jeon Jaejoo."
He wrote his name in hangul in the sandcastle with his finger. He slowly went over each symbol with his finger and pronounced each for me.
"J-eo-n J-ae-j-oo."
I wrote my name in English underneath his.
"Leena Raiz." I said as I went over it.
"Pretty." He said to me in english watching me as he pulled his knees to his chest.

I made friends with the boy quickly and he'd always come to play with me. At some point he even started to pick me up from the house my mother and I were staying in and take me over to where he was staying. I even spent the night there when me and his younger brother, who was actually just his cousin, actually started to like me.
"Who is that?" I asked Jaejoo as we walked up to his house for the first time ever. There was a boy playing with a red car behind the frontgate. I clutched onto Jaejoo's hand a little tighter as we approached.
"Cousin." he said to me in english. When I glared at him he laughed knowing I wanted the Korean word. "Dongsaeng." He told me before adding, "Younger brother." In English. I was confused but didn't bothering questioning it.
Jaejoo opened the gate and I went over to the boy who looked my age and sat down next to him. The boy stopped playing with his toy and stared at me in shook.
"Who are you?" He asked defensively in Korean. Jaejoo had been teaching me daily so at this point I was able to pick up basic conversations but I still was slightly confused when being spoken to unless it was anyone but Jaejoo.
"Leena." I said to him.
The boy glared at me and reached up to tug my hair roughly before pushing me over and running behind Jaejoo.
"Jungkook-ah!" Jaejoo yelled causing Jungkook to flinch behind him. "Go apologize."
"Ani." Jungkook grumbled.
I was laying on the ground in pure shook. It was the first time I'd ever been treated so roughly, especially by a boy. Before I knew it I had started crying.
"Oh Leena." Jaejoo came and picked me up off the ground. I cried into his shoulder. I wasn't in pain but I felt the need to cry for whatever reason. He lightly bounced me as much as a boy only a few years older than myself at the time could manage and attempted to hush my tears.
