"Ma'am we seemed to have made a mistake with your daughter."
"Excuse me?"
I paused my coloring to listen to the conversation between the man in the white coat and my mother who walked outside.
"The patient... doesn't have what we originally thought it was..."
"So what is it some other type-"
"No the patient free of it."
My mother was silent. "F..free?"
"Yes."
"But... but she's been going through treatment for three months. Now you're telling me that it's nothing?"
"The patient has a dangerously inept immune system. I assume that she was diagnosed-"
"STOP TALKING ABOUT HER LIKE SHE'S NOT HUMAN! YOU JUST PUT MY DAUGHTER, A LITTLE GIRL THROUGH TREATMENT FOR NOTHING! NOTHING AT ALL! DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE CONSEQUENCES-"
"Yes ma'am I understa-"
"Then you should know better than anyone." She hissed. "How do you "accidentally" misdiagnose something like that?"
"It was just a considered possibilty ma'am."
"Like it makes a fucking difference!"
"Please stay calm-"
"Do not make me punch you in the throat sir."
"I apologize. The hospital is willing to pay a great sum-"
"For me to keep my mouth shut."
The man did not respond.

"Mom." I croaked.
Beep beep beep...
"Mom?" I started to feel panicked.
I reached out into the silence and the darkness.
Beep beep beep...
"Mommy.." I whimpered.
Warmth circled my hand and I felt calmer though I knew it was not my mother.
"She'll be back, muffin. She went out to get something to eat."
Beep beep beep...
"Do I even want to open my eyes?"
"Should I tell you where we are?"
"No. I can tell by the smell." I responded. There was another breathing in the room but only one other.
"Where are the other boys?"
"They stayed for a few days but you weren't waking up. They had to go back."
My eyes fluttered open. Namjoon looked down at me worried.
"I feel better."
"..."
"I promise."
