I was about to open school doors, it was the first day of school once again, and I couldn't wait to see all of my friends again. I was on vacation for the whole summer and haven't seen them since the last day of freshman year.
So anyways, I took a deep breath, dusted myself off and opened the door. Everything seemed normal, until someone shouted "Hey look, there's Zoe!" They all started to make a crowd around me, giving me compliments and holding out their yearbooks, asking for my signature. It was perfect, it was amazing, it was fabulous, it was everything a girl wants right? But wait, it gets even better. As I was quickly signing their yearbooks as they were all shouting at me, all at once. Dustin was standing behind all of them, shouting out my name. "Zoe! Hey Zoe!" When I saw him, I shouted his name too, trying to get past all of these students. Dustin also trying to get to me.
Dustin is on the boys basketball team at my school, he has brown eyes and long whispy, strawberry blonde hair that reaches down to his shoulders and covers his eyes in the front. I often see him flipping it or pushing it to the side. He's usually seen at school wearing his basketball uniform for practice. Oh, and on more thing. He has been my friend and crush since last year. The only person that knew was my best friend, Cleo. And I could totally trust her, right?
Anyways, just as Dustin was calling my name, the voice didn't sound like his anymore, it sounded more like.........my teacher.
"Zoe? Zoe? Zoe!" She went on. Dang it! I was daydreaming in class, but it really was the first day of school. I finally looked at her an came back to reality. "Can you tell me the answer to question five please?"she asked. I didn't know what to say. I wasn't paying any attention, I was too busy thinking about...............Dustin.
"Umm...uh"I stammered. "It's 47, Ms.Fall"said a voice in the background. That voice in the background was Amy, another one of my friends.
Amy has blue eyes, freckles and circle shaped glasses. Her hair is stick straight and dark brown, always tied in a ponytail. She is also the smartest person I had ever met, and a bit of a teachers pet if you ask me. But she always has my back, and that's what really counts.
"Thank you, Amy" was what Ms.Fall said next. I turned around and Amy smiled at me, and I gave her a thankful smile back.
Then, the boring class went on and I tried my hardest to pay attention. When the lunch bell finally rang, I zoomed out of the classroom and found my best friend Cleo waiting for me at my new locker. "Hey, what class were you in?"was the first thing she said. "Math, what about you? "I replied. "Just boring old english"she said.
Cleo is the most popular girl at my school, and you know how in the movies when there's a popular girl, sometimes she has some sort of sidekick best friend who is always walking around with her, yep that's me. The popular girls best friend. Not only is Cleo popular, but she's also pretty. She's got long blonde wavy hair that shines perfectly, sparkling dark blue eyes, and dresses in skirts, dresses, and fancy tops. She's also the lead cheerleader, which I am in too. But yeah, she is perfect, then there's me. Well I haven't really told you much about myself yet have I? Well, my name is Zoe, I have wavy shoulder length red hair and hazel eyes. I usually wear outfits similar to Cleos, but sometimes I wear headbands. I don't really consider myself pretty, unlike Cleo.
"Oh" I said, putting stuff in my locker and grabbing my lunch. After that, we walked together to the cafeteria and when we saw that all the tables were full, Cleo walked up to a table, motioning for me to follow. She looked directly at the people sitting there and said "Ahem". Seeing that it was her, they moved right away. Some may say it's not right, but when you are the popular girl, well, it kind of is. We sat down and talked about school and shopping and things like that. Another one of my friends sat with us too. But he wasn't much of Cleos friend. But that was fine with me.
His name is Nick and he has wild- looking, brown curly hair and dark eyes. He also wears alot of different hats, which he is best known for, I guess.
When the school day was over, me and Cleo went to the mall, looked around for a little while without buying anything and finally just sat at a bench, talking. I know it kind of seemed like a boring day, but this is usually how my day goes. "I just want him to think of me as, you know, more than a friend" I said. We were in a conversation about Dustin. "You should totally ask him out"she said. "I could never do THAT",I said firmly. "Why not?" she asked. I took a deep breath. "Because Cleo, if he says no, it could ruin our friendship". She sighed then finally said, "well you never know what he's gonna say until you ask". Now it was my turn to sigh, "I'd still rather him ask me". She rolled her eyes, "I see". Trying to change the subject, I said, "Why don't we go to my house". "Sure"she said. So then we left. Back at my house wasn't all that fun, we just painted our nails and did each others hair and stuff like that. And when she left, which was around dinner time, I was not only board, but also lonely.
