The next thing I knew, I was lying on a couch, but I wasn't in my house, or any house I'd been to before.
My vision was a little off, but faintly I could see two dark haired kids. "I think she's waking up" one of them said.
I blinked repeatedly for a minute as I started to sit up, and then I saw that it was Tabitha and a boy that looked a lot like her, and looked the same age as her. "Are you okay, Zoe?" Tabitha asked, concernedly. I looked around, confused. "I think so, but where am I? And who is that boy?" I questioned. She smiled. "We're at my house, Zoe, and this is my brother, Troy" she explained,"we're twins". So they were. "Oh", was all I could say. "Hello" Troy said. "Yeah, hi" I replied, tiredly. "I'll go get you some water" Tabitha offered. "Oh no that's fi-" I said as she left the room.
Then there was a moment or two of awkward silence between me and Tabithas brother. Then something happened that I didn't expect at all. "Look, I know that we just met and all, but I find you really beautiful" Troy said. I was shocked, I didn't know how to react, I felt a little bad though because I surely didn't feel the same way, and had just started dating Dustin.
"Oh, I'm sorry" I said, "I have a boyfriend". Tabitha must have heard me because I suddenly heared a glass drop from the kitchen and break. Tabitha came back in. "Um, Zoe? Could I talk to you for a minute?"she asked, "Alone". She looked at Troy and he left the room. Oh boy, how did I get my big mouth into this one?
Tabitha sat down next to me and yet another awkward silence began.
She opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, I confessed, "Tabitha, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be a mean person or anything, it's just that I've had feelings for Dustin for a long time and to see you come in the picture is a little overwhelming, you know what I mean? I just-" I was talking real fast, I tend to do that when I'm nervous. She stopped me,"Zoe, what are you talking about?" I took a deep breath, "Oh come on, Tabitha, don't tell me you don't know what I'm talking about". She gave me a confused look. "Wait, is this about Dustin?" she asked. I nodded,"I know you like him" I said, "I've known it ever since I first met you".
She looked down. "And you've been trying to steal my best friend" I continued, "all Cleo wants to do is hang out with you now". She didn't say anything, so I turned around to see why, and I was a little shocked to see her crying.
Suddenly I felt horrible. "I'm sorry", she cried, "I'm so sorry". I got up and sat closer to her, I didn't really know how to comfort her, so I rubbed her back. "It's just that, you and Cleo are so pretty and you guys have everything" she sobbed, "I got jealous of you, Zoe. I'm sorry".
I sighed, "No, I'm sorry", I told her. "What?"she looked up at me. "I should not have judged you, thinking you were a bad person" I said. "Oh, Zoe" she said, wiping her tears away, "Don't blame yourself for my jealousy and selfishness, I should have never came here".
Wow, and I thought Cleo was a drama queen, I thought. "I mean it, Tabitha. You're a great person, with amazing looks, and I great personality. You taught me everything about the stars, remember that?"
She smiled with tears still in her eyes. "Yeah, I remember that" she said. "So it's easy to see why Dustin would want to talk to you and Cleo would want to go to the mall with you" I reassured her, smiling, but this time it was a real smile, not out of suspicion, it was out of happiness.
