We arrived at the fair about ten minutes late and there was already a long line up to get in, mostly kids and their parents, but I think Cleo was keeping her hopes up that there would be some good looking boys are age. Me, I was just looking for Dustin and Tabitha, who were nowhere to be found.
I looked around for some way to get in where no one would see us and it wasn't as easy as I thought with all those people there.
Finally, I saw a part of the fence that was small enough for us to climb over. I looked around carefully to make sure no one was watching us and started walking towards it, motioning for Cleo to follow behind me. Once we got to the fence, we thought we were totally gonna get away with this, but just when I was about to climb over, a security guard jumped in front of us.
He was a tall, muscular, bald man who didn't crack a smile. "Ticket please, young lady" he said, firmly. Damn, we were screwed. I panicked, looking for an excuse, "Um, well you see.......we don't have tickets". He still didn't crack a smile, just that permanent tough look that stayed. "Well then I'm afraid you cannot enter the fair" he said, looking me in the eye. I was about to turn around and give up, until I looked past him and saw Dustin and Tabitha.
She was standing a little too close to him for my liking. "No way" I said, thinking out loud. And then, without thinking at all, I rushed past the security guard, practically jumping over the fence. I made it over! But the guard was chasing me, so I just ran for my life, no ideas as to where I was going, I just ran, fast.
I ran past Dustin and he saw me, probably wondering why I was being chased by a security guard. He watched me run by, "Zoe?" I got to look at him for a split second, "Dustin!"
I kept running, not looking back, until I thought I out ran the security guard, which was a bad idea, because just as I stopped, catching my breath back, I felt a tap on my shoulder.
I turned around and of course, it was him. I've been caught. Please don't kill me, I thought. But he just grabbed my arm with his big, giant hand and dragged me into a building, saying nothing the whole way there. I was totally dead.
