I woke up the next morning feeling sick. My throat was dry and I had a cough that seemed to worsen every time. So I stayed home from school, which left me with nothing to do at all,but at least I could have a break.
Throughout the day I tested Cleo and watched T.V.
it got pretty boring, so I decided to go outside in the nice sunny weather. The fall leaves were beginning to hit the ground and it was slightly colder, but it was still nice. I stood on the deck, facing the road and the house's across from mine. I hadn't bothered to change out of my pajamas and my red hair was in tangles, but I didn't care. I just stood there, enjoying the weather until suddenly I heard something.
It was a whistling sound. I turned around to see where the tune was coming from. Then I turned back to face the road, I saw a paper-route boy, about my age, with shaggy brown hair that fell just above his eyes and a friendly smile.
I thought he was cute, but I had more feelings for Dustin than I did for him.
He came into my driveway and up to the deck. Handed a newspaper to me "Here" he said. "Thanks" I replied, slightly blushing. Then he walked away. I wondered where he came from, I hadn't seen him at my school before, so maybe he was new, like Tabitha, or maybe he didn't go to my school. I thought about this when suddenly I realized that he just saw me in my pajamas. Maybe that's why he was smiling. I hoped not, I didn't need to embarrass myself, especially in front of a cute boy that I had never met.
