So today I got told by two people that I would never see My Chemical Romance live. I know that's true. They know that's true. But they felt the need to make a joke of it?
I get it. A fangirl who recently got her fandom breaking up... People are bound to joke about it, right?
It's funny.... right?
You're wrong.
Nobody on this planet, apart from us Killjoys or people who'be had their favourite band break up, will know the real pain that comes with it.
This band wasn't just a band.
Their lyrics weren't just lyrics.
Their songs weren't just songs.
The band was like a best friend. One that understood everything and never, ever judged anything.
The lyrics are your feelings. They're feelings that nobody else seems to get. You understood the lyrics in a way that nobody else ever would. It was like having a diary. But a diary that was sung and performed by your heroes.
The songs... They were your medicine. They were a band-aid to help heal you, and take away the physical and mental pain of the day that had set itself out before you.
It was like having support through everything.
It was something that seemed to help ease the thoughts that seemed to stalk your brain at night.
It was something that always managed to make you smile after a day of feeling like you weren't good enough.
It was something that kept us strong. Something that kept us fighting.
We're Killjoys. My Chemical Romance was and still is the one thing that'll keep us walking on.
They'll help us carry on.
They'll make sure nobody takes the light behind our eyes.
They'll always, always, make sure we're not afraid to walk this world alone.
They're there when nobody else is.
They're the hand that reaches out to us when we're drowning in a dark sea of insults, battle wounds, society and everything in-between.
They're a part of our lives that will always remain, no matter how much of us changes.
My Chemical Romance will always be in our hearts.
And nothing you say will take that away from us.
So carry on insulting us, our fandom, the way we choose the dress, the things we believe in, the things we don't believe in.
But just know, the things you say will stick in some of our minds when we're ready to end it all.
That small joke you said earlier will be just another thing that makes us feel like we're not good enough.
Because we're all broken in some ways, and for us, My Chemical Romance is the thing that mends us.
So take your words and get out. Remember to shut the door on the way out.
Thanks.
