~Chapter 1~
*Erizel's POV*
I whipped around, my sword materializing in my hand as I dodged the demon trying to kill me. I spun completely around and slashed my sword upward, ripping through is body from groin up to his head, effectively cutting him in half. I felt his warm blood splatter all over me.
I took a deep breath in, smelling blood and death and felt my eyes shift.
*Gabriel's POV*
As I finished off the demon in front of me I turned to see Erizel doing the same. I watched her as she froze for a minute, taking a deep breath. When she opened her eyes again I gasped. They had turned black. Even with her eyes darkening though, she was still beautiful.
Her long white hair with black streaks was swishing back and forth at her waist, her skin was luminescent. She looked like an avenging angel holding her sword, all splattered in blood. She was amazing.
I could see the black spreading in her hair. Oh no! I can't let that happen!
"ERIZEL! Don't let the darkness take you! Stay balanced! You aren't ready to choose yet" I called out to her. Her eyes snapped to me and I watched as they changed back to their natural gray.
"Thank you" I saw her mouth at me before she turned around and started to walk away.
*Shade's POV*
I watched Gabriel snap Erizel out of falling completely to the dark. Damn it. She was so close to crossing just from the smell of death in the air. She was so close to falling completely. Lucifer will be disappointed in me because of another failed attempt at forcing her daughter to come completely over to the dark side.
A small part of me was relived though. I love how she is now, I didn't want her to change at all, and I didn't want her to stop being my Erizel before I could work up the nerve to tell her how I felt.
"Eri!" I called out to her. I saw her smile at the nickname I had always called her by. I couldn't stand calling her by a goddess name most of the time.
"Shade!" She shouted back to me before running into my arms. I hugged her tightly and whispered in her ear "So close... so close to losing you. You need to be more careful."
*Erizel's POV*
As soon as I felt Shades' arms around me my legs gave out and I sagged against him. So close... already so close to crossing over. It was only my first year in the earthly plane and I had already come so close to falling completely.
Mother and Father had been constantly trying to do stuff to make me fall for their side, to let either of my sides take over and claim me completely. Father wished for me to see the light, and become his heir, the next to rule and sit on the heavenly throne. Mother wished for my goddess side to parish and for me to embrace my inner devil, to take her place as the corruptor, the queen of hell.
The only thing that keeps me from my parents forcing my choice is my two friends.
Gabriel, the highest archangel, sent by my father to watch me and Shade, the darkest and most powerful of demons, my mother's right hand, sent to stop Gabriel from showing me the light.
"You corrupt demon get your filthy hands off of her! You aren't worthy to touch her" I hear as I am suddenly snapped out of my thoughts by the hands on my shoulders pulling me away from Shade.
"Noooooo!" I whine while trying to cling to him.
"Don't you dare pull her away from me you goody two shoes! She obviously likes being in my arms," Shade growls at Gabriel.
"Please don't fight," I sigh against Shades chest.
I feel a hand gently stroking my hair and then lips on my forehead as I hear Gabriel whisper, "For you, my princess."
Letting out a deep sigh I let the darkness that had been hanging at the edge of my mind since my knees gave out wash over me. The last thing I hear is the thump thump of Shades heart, soothing me as I slip into unconsciousness.
