~Chapter 15~
*Erizel's POV*
What do I do what do I do what do I do what do I do???? I couldn't believe what had just happened. Shade just admitted that he was in love with me! And I was in so much shock that I couldn't even respond! So he ran away thinking I hated him....
When the truth is, I love him too. I probably love him more than he loves me. He's my hero, my savior, my best friend and my confidant. He's the best thing that ever happened to him and I pretty much let him slip right though my fingers.
I'm an idiot.
All of this was running through my head as I paced back and forth in the cave, trying to decide what to do.
Go after him retard! I thought to myself.
I took off down the cave yelling, "Shade! Shade?"
I must have spent hours running through the system of caves but I just couldn't find him. Finally I collapsed on the floor and put my back against the wall.
*Third Person POV*
They both had their backs against the wall, coincidentally the same wall, but opposite sides. If they listened hard enough they could probably hear each other's breathing, but of course, neither of them were paying any attention to their surroundings. They were both too absorbed in their own thoughts and self loathing.
Shade was going through his self hatred, thinking he should have never told Erizel how he felt. Of course she would reject him, who wouldn't? Or at least that's what he thought. If he had been listening at all he would have been able to hear Erizel calling out for him while she searched the tunnels.
Erizel, on the other hand, was wallowing in self pity for herself, thinking that she had thrown away the only chance she had to be truly happy with the person she owed her life to. He had saved her without even knowing it, without her even knowing it herself.
She knew if only she could find him she could explain that she didn't mean to reject him, that she loved him back, and that she was just so surprised she didn't know how to act. But she couldn't find him. He was hidden from her.
"Aaaahhhhhhggggg!" Erizel screamed at the top of her lungs. "Someone help me!"
Shade shot up from the ground, hearing Erizel call for help.
No matter what he would always help her.
He looked around frantically, trying to figure out where her scream came from.
"Erizel?!" he shouted.
"ERIZEL!" he shouted again.
Erizel picked up her head from where she had dropped it onto her knees, hearing someone calling her name faintly.
"Shade..?" she whispered.
"Erizel!" he shouted.
"Shade!!!" she screamed back.
"Where are you? Are you okay?" he asked frantically.
"I'm lost! Please help me!" she cried back.
He put his head up against the wall, listening carefully. He could barely hear her heartbeat and breathing through it.
"Stand back! I'm going to bust through the wall!" he commanded her.
She took a few steps back and a few off to the side.
"Okay I'm clear!" she told him.
Suddenly there was a huge explosion, throwing her back. Her ears were ringing and as she slowly opened her eyes she saw a shadow walking out of the dust. He looked like a dark angel coming to rescue her from her greatest fears... and hopes.
"Erizel?" he whispered softly.
"Shade..." she whispered back.
"Oh thank Satan you're okay!" he said as he ran toward her and scooped her up.
"No, thank you" she said as she wrapped her arms around him tightly.
"Shade," she said, pulling away from him.
"What is it? Oh did I over step my boundaries..?" he asked, taking a step back.
"No! That's not it. I wanted to tell you... I love you! I love you so much it makes my heart hurt, I've loved you since the day I met you and you saved me. I don't want to live without you. Please... don't ever leave me again." She confessed.
"But when I told you that I loved you... you didn't say anything, you just stood there." He accused her.
"I was just in shock! I could never imagine that you cared about me at all, so I couldn't respond, and by the time I found the words you were already gone!" she wailed.
"So... you really do love me..." he said in shock.
"Yes. I do. I love you Shade." She replied.
A huge smile broke out onto Shades face and he picked up Erizel, who was laughing and smiling, and spun her around in circles.
"I feel like I'm finally alive! Like I'm finally happy!" Shade confessed. "It's as if I was in the dark and you've finally showed me the light. I love you Erizel. I love you."
