*Erizel's POV*
"I uhm... I... " I stuttered, trying to think of a way to change the subject.
"What is a regnum mark? What does that mean? Gabriel! Explain!" Ember shrieked.
"I uh..." Gabriel rubbed his head sheepishly, "I really have no idea what it means. I didn't even think they really existed. I saw it in a prophecy in the Archangel Hall once. What does it mean Erizel? And why do you have it?"
"I uhh..." I still hadn't come up with a good excuse... Maybe I should just tell them...?
An explosion-like shadow appeared next to me and before I knew what was going on there was a hand over my mouth. I looked up at who was holding me, not fight back for some reason, and gasped into his hand.
"Giakan" I numbed against his hand. How could it be that he was here? And still looking like he did the day he fell, stunning hazel eyes, a slightly tanned complexion, his brown hair cropped close to his head. The only thing different was his wings. Once glowing white with gold tips, now midnight black, blacker than black, even.
Oh how he has fallen.
"How dare you come here!" Gabriel yelled, swinging a fist at Giakan.
"Really, is that any way to treat your long lost brother? It has been five years, dearest younger brother. Have you not missed me?" Giakan taunted as he calmly dodged the fist.
"You murderer! You are just a Fallen now!" Gabriel spat at him.
I looked up at Giakan and when he looked down at me I knew he could see the confusion in my eyes. Fallen? I knew that. But Gabriel's brother? I had no idea. I saw in his eyes a pleading for understanding and for silence. He did not want them knowing I had called out for him subconsciously when I was in trouble. For he was my guardian. My protector. My confidant. My friend.
"Unfortunately for you three," Gia drooled, jumping back to the previous topic, "that is not something you have the privilege of knowing about."
Oh. The regnum mark. I had almost forgotten.
I was getting tired of not being able to breathe well so I bit down on Gia's hand hard.
"Ouch! Did you really just bite me?" He asked me accusingly.
I just looked up at him with eyes I hope were saying 'why I would never!' but from the look on his face he wasn't buying it.
Shade, who had stayed silent through this entire exchange, walked up to Gia and slapped him on the shoulder roughly.
"It's good to see you again," he stated before wandering out of the room. "Come hang with me when you get this cluster f figured out. I want to hear the news from down under." He shouted over his shoulder.
"You know Shade? You're Gabriel's brother? And clearly you know Erizel too!? But that doesn't mean you shouldn't at least introduce yourself to me!" Ember screeched, throwing pillows at Gia.
"I'm sorry miss, where have my manners gone. My name is Giakan. I was once an archangel, but now I reside in Hell." Gia said formally, holding his hand out to her.
"Funny, because I've never met you before, but okay!" Ember said before flouncing after her brother.
"Gabriel-" Giakan started.
"Save it brother," Gabriel said with a look of disgust on his face. "I have nothing to say to you anymore, and I will not hear any filth that will surely come out of your mouth." With that Gabriel too stormed out of the room, in the opposite direction as Shade and Ember. I could see the hurt in Giakan's eyes.
Now that they had left, the subject of my mark clearly forgotten I allowed myself to collapse onto the couch, dragging Gia with me.

"It's so hard Gia. Every day, it's so very hard." I whined.
"It will get easier once you make a choice," he soothed me.
"I do not know."
"You will know."
We sat their in silence, looking out the window. We watched the sun set. And the moon rise, and set once more.

Yawning slightly, I looked over at Gia, examining his profile as he continued to stare out the window. As my eyes traveled to his pitch back wings I felt my heart clench up.
"I'm sorry" I whispered, a tear forming in my eye and dripping down my cheek.
He looked over at me sharply, but seeing the tear his eyes softened and he reached out, cupping my cheek with his hand and gently brushed the lone tear away with his thumb. "Do not be. I made my choice, and as much as I miss my family, I am doing what needs to be done."
I looked into his eyes as I cuddled against his hand and I saw conviction in them, but also regret. He may be willing to stick with his decision, but one day he will come to hate me for it. I can see it already.
He will blame me for his fall. And he has every right to. I am the one who asked him to, after all.
"Est regnum, potentia oritur, est solutus ad utendum throni eius." Giakan sang softly.
The prophecy.
"Et iterum sumo eam non esse." I joined him.
"Faciam quod nemo scit." He finished.
"You know I really wish they didn't put that in the Archangel Hall and the Horsemen Hall." I murmured.
"What, you don't like having people read about you?" He teased. "Not even the highest members of Heaven and Hell?"
"No."
Not at all.
