As everyone drifted off to sleep, Akako lied wide awake, staring at the ceiling. She didn't dare fall asleep in fear of having that torurous dream of hers. She sat up and looked over at Sakura who was snoring extremely loud and drooling all over the pillow.
Gross. But atleast she could sleep in peace. Akako got up and slowly crept down the hallway and sat down in one of the chairs.
As she stared into the darkness that surrounded her, she began to have horrible thoughts.
Why am I even here? Who cares... no one... Why can't I be normal...?... Why can't I be dead?
As she let these horribls thoughts seep into her mind, her once cold, black expression became one of pain.
She had gotten used to hiding her emotions infront of people, but sometimes it got hard, she felt like she was bursting at the seems with emotion, but she couldn't let it out now, not here.
"Why are you awake?" Akako looked up to see a figure standing in the hallway.
"Kakashi-sensei?" She wiped the tears that had fallen from her eyes, hoping that Kakashi hadn't seen them in the dimly lit room. "I couldn't sleep."
"Is that the only reason?" He pried, taking a step closer to her.
Why do you care? She wanted to ask.
"Have you heard Sakura-san? She snores like a pig, how am I expected to sleep with that?" Akako answered, trying to steer the conversation into a different place.
"Is that why you were crying?" He asked. Akako remained silent. Neither of them said anything for several moments, before Kakashi stepped closer to her. "Akako?"
She looked up at him.
"Can I sit with you?" A confused look flashed across her face, before she nodded and scooched over. He squeezed in next to her in the tiney seat, but it was somewhat and somehow comfortable.
"Geez Kakashi-sensei, you have big hips!" Akako tried to crack a joke but failed as instead of a laugh, tears came pouring out of her eyes.
Kakashi looked down at her and slowly and awkwardly, put his arm around her to comfort her.
Her breath hitched in her throat and she wiped away the tears from under her eyes. Neither of them moved, neither of them said a thing.
Akako slowly started to drift off into sleep, and Kakashi noticed that she was shivering, not wanting to get up to get a blanket, he pulled her onto his lap and put both of his arms around her and then looked down to see a smile on her face. She opened her eyes and smiled up at him.
"I've never seen you smile before." Kakashi stated, blushing under his mask.
"Yes you have, stop lying." She playfully shoved him.
"Not a real one..." They both remained awkwardly quite for a few moments before Kakashi put his hand in hers. She closed her eyes and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Kakashi-sensei..."
"Just Kakashi, Akako-senpai..." Kakashi whispered, blushing furiously under his mask.
"Alright, just Kakashi... I..." She looked down at their hands and smiled before entertwining their fingers.
"Me too."
She looked up at him and smiled. She closed her eyes and rested her head in the crook of his neck, pretending to drift off. Kakashi put his other hand in hers and laced their fingers before closing his eye as well.
As soon as Akako was sure that Kakashi was asleep, she opened up her eyes to look at him. She slowly and carefully got her right hand out of his hand and brought it up to his face. She pulled down his mask just so she could see his cheek and then she hesitated. She shook her head, leaving all her doubts behind, and placed a kiss on his cheek before closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep herself.
