As Akako opened her eyes she felt something strange, something one her face that hadn't been there for a long time. A smile. It was that dream she had, that dream of her and Kakashi. Her smile disapeared as she realized she had no idea where she was.
She looked around, before recognizing her surroundings, was it possible that it wasn't a dream?
As she looked next to her she saw something very unexpected, well someone very unexpected. It was Kakashi. She looked down on their intertwined hands and let a smile cross her face before she got up carfully, as not to wake up Kakashi.
As she tip-toed back to the room she shared with Sakura, she could hear Naruto and Sasuke bickering about something in their room.
She opened the door to see Sakura messing with her hair, she didn't even notice her come in.
"Hey, Akako-chan?"
Great she caught me. Was all Akako could think. "Yeah?"
"Do you think that Sasuke-kun will like my hair?"
Akako frowned, of course she would ask that. "I don't know how about you ask him."
"But he's your brother."
"Fine. Just leave me alone." Akako left to go to the boys' room. As she opened the door she saw Sasuke with Naruto in a headlock. She sighed.
"Akako-san, help!" Naruto said to her.
Ignoring him, Akako talked to Sasuke. "Hey Onii-chan? Do you like Sakura-san's hair?"
His eyebrows came together in confusion. "Sure...?"
"Thanks," She began to walk out.
"Akako-san!" Naruto yelled.
"Let go of him." Akako sighed. Sasuke let go and walked over to her and looked in her eyes. She eyed him curiously. And then he smiled and patted her head.
"No bad dreams?" She shoke her head and left to her room.
As she got there Sakura grabbed her by the shoulders, "What did he say?"
"Uh, sure."
"Oh..." She looked down and let go of her shoulders. "But you like it, right Akako-chan?"
Akako looked at her saddened expression. "Of course."
As Akako got dressed and Sakura messed with her hair, Sakura started humming the melody to some unrecognizable song. As Akako let her thoughts overwhelm her, she let her mind drift to the night before.
It wasn't a dream, so Kakashi-senpai might actually like me. She thought. But he doesn't know it wasn't a dream, but he is Kakashi, he'll figure it out. Right? What if he doesn't? She began to worry.
"Akako-sama, it's time to go." She heard Sasuke from the door.
"Coming!" She walked to the front of the cabin to be met with Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, and of course, Kakashi.
"Goodmorning," She waved, ignoring Kakashi's gaze.
"So, the mission will be in the woods." Kakashi said, getting straight to the point. "We will be scouting around for danger, here's the attack plan if we spot an enemy." He focused his attention on Naruto. "You will attack first, just bring them down so we can question their presence or chase them off."
"I'm going to show them who's boss! Believe it!" Naruto pumped his fist in the air in excitement.
"Sasuke, if it looks like he can't handle it, you join the fight."
"What?! Him?!" Naruto yelled.
"Yes, him." Kakashi shot back.
"Now, if anything goes wrong..." He looked at Akako and she nodded.
"Let's go!" Naruto yelled, already halfway out the door. As they began to leave Sakura stopped her.
"Don't let them get hurt." She told her. "If something bad happens I won't be much help. They'll be counting on you."
"Something bad won't happen," Akako reasured her. "It's just a border patrol, were not fighting the some S-ranked criminals or anything."
