Darkness. She could feel the darkness around her. Loneliness. She could feel it pressing down on her soul. Where was she? She had no idea.
There was an overwhelming sense of danger in her stomach. But also an unsettling feeling of calmness and safety.
Where was she? Who was she?
Her eyes opened to a pitch black room. A strange aroma filled the air.
It took a few minutes before her eyes adjusted to her surroundings.
She was sitting on a king-sized canopy bed. The room was quite large, with nothing but a door the presumably lead out of the room and a small bedside table.
There was a candle set on the table, its flame was dim, but bright enough for her to see.
She sat up on the bed, dangling her feet off of the edge.
Where was she? She didn't know. Who was she? What was her name? She didn't remember. Did she ever have one?
"Akako-san, your awake, un."
She looked up to see someone in a cloak standing in the entrance of the door.
"Akako? Is that my name?" The girl asked quietly.
"Yeah."
"What is your name?"
"Just call me D, un."
"D? What is your real name?"
"You'll forget it, un. No reason to tell you something you'll forget later on. Yeah?"
"What makes you think I'll forget?"
"You've asked me what my name was every day for the past week, un."
"Week?" She whispered. "I've been here for a week?" She asked softly.
"Yeah."
"Why? Why am I here?"
"Because you need to forget, un." D walked over to the bedside table and put a new candle where the old one stood.
"Forget what?" She turned her head to look at him.
D finished lighting the new candle and grabbed the old, burned out one. He headed towards the door, before turning around. "Not what dear, who." He closed the door behind him.
"Who." She repeated under her breath. "Who am I forgetting?"
