*POV North*
From that moment on, everything went wrong. Anna was sitting on Jamie’s bed, still sobbing. Jack was flying through the room at an incredible speed. The government really had to introduce a maximum speed for moving around inside buildings… He was mumbling about how he should have stayed here to protect Jamie while there was no one else around. Tooth and her fairies were discussing something by the window. Then she opened it and the fairies flew away.
‘Go get him!’ she shrieked, before turning back to the rest of us. Now she had nothing to do anymore, she too started to panic. Sandy looked a little green, but obviously couldn’t tell us what he thought of the whole situation.
‘Guys!’ I said, hoping to create some calmness. Nobody listened. ‘GUYS!’ I exclaimed, stamping on the ground, causing it to slightly shake. Sandy looked up at me and Jack and Tooth flew into each other. They quickly got up, embarrassed of their behaviour. ‘Good, now I have your attention,’ I started. ‘Wait, where is Bunny?’
At that moment, Sophie came running in. Bunny followed close behind her.
‘Oh, I’m gonna get you, you little ankle-biter!’ he called out, making the little girl laugh. She hid behind Jack and Bunny chuckled softly.
‘Sorry, I couldn’t help it,’ he then said, noticing Tooth’s disapproving look. ‘And hey, we’ll have to take her with us! She can’t stay here, where Pitch can get her, right?’ He looked around, desperately searching for anyone to support his idea. I shook my head, doubting this would be a good plan.
*POV Anna*
‘Yes, she’s coming,’ I answered quietly. The guardians turned their heads to me, a look of utter astonishment on their faces. But I wasn’t finished. ‘As am I,’ I continued in a more powerful voice. I had made up my mind about this already. Nothing could stop me from protecting the two kids appointed to my supervision. I needed to get Jamie back, no matter what, but I also had to keep an eye on Sophie. So, we were coming along, end of discussion. Bunny gave me thumps up, but the others were still looking doubtful. Only Jack seemed to really consider this plan as doable. Not that I really cared about his opinion, for he had been mean to Bunny, but someone to support my plan would be nice, even though if it was him.
‘Are you sure about this?’ Santa Claus asked. I gracefully stood up, giving him a hard glare.
‘Would I say I’d come if I were not?’ I asked. I didn’t care I sounded selfish. I just wanted to make sure that creep who called himself ‘Pitch’ would pay for taking Jamie.
‘Well, then, that’s settled!’ Santa said, raising his eyebrows. ‘To the sleigh!’
Bunny started shaking his head so hard, I got afraid it would fall off.
‘Can’t we just take the tunnels this time?’ he begged. Jack sniggered, but quickly stopped when he saw the expression on my face.
‘Uh, let’s go find Jamie!’ he hurried to say, which I couldn’t agree with more than I already did.
*POV Jack*
Following Anna, Sophie and the other guardians, I wondered why Jamie always had to be involved when Pitch tried to strike. It’s great he believes in us so much, but that should mean he’d be safe, not in danger!
North had decided to make a compromise for Bunny: we’d first all go to the warren, to make a plan and then we’d go and find Pitch – with the sleigh. It was quite funny to see him so nervous about something like the sleigh. Too bad Anna wouldn’t let me remind Bunny of that…
‘Alright mates, buckle up,’ Bunny said, a confident smile on his face.
‘But…’ Anna said, a startled look on her face. Before she could finish though, Bunny tapped the ground twice and a hole appeared.
As we’d done before, we followed the slide-like tunnels to the main entrance of the warren. As soon as we came to a halt, Sophie saw the little eggs and ran off after them.
‘Welcome to the warren, Anna,’ Bunny said, proudly spreading his arms.
‘And this time without knocking you out,’ I mumbled. Both Anna and Bunny gave me a death glare. How nice of them.
*POV Anna*
I looked around and saw the familiar sight of the happy, green place I had visited before. So this was the warren. The experience with the tunnels to come here had actually been quite nice tom my surprise, as soon as I got over the first shock. It ended up feeling like it was a huge slide. Now knowing all of the persons I was with, and seeing Sophie enjoy herself, the place was a lot less confusing than it had been before.
‘So, what are we going to do to get Jamie back?’ I asked. I knew myself: when I wanted something to happen, I couldn’t bring up the patience for it to start. When it had started it could take as long as it wanted, but something had to happen. The guardians exchanged a look.
‘Well,’ Santa started, gesturing vaguely with his hands. ‘We could ask Jamie’s friends to help us again.’ I raised an eyebrow.
‘And risk another child to get kidnapped? Not going to happen. We need a plan. A really good plan.’ I was walking back and forth in front of the guardians, like an army commander, by then. ‘I only we knew where that creepy man had taken Jamie…’
‘That’s it!’ Jack suddenly exclaimed, crouching on the tip of his staff. I tilted my head, as he smiled at me. ‘We need to go to Pitch’s hideout!’
