*POV Jack*

She saw us again! I felt so relieved and happy and so many other things I couldn’t describe, that I somersaulted backwards into the air, a broad grin splitting my face open in the process. I knew the problem wasn’t solved, but having one of my first believers back, certainly was a step in the right direction. Now all we had to do was set our hopes up for those Wattpad people.

‘Do you think those people are to be trusted?’ I asked, doubting this plan would work. Both Britt and Robin gave me a death glare.

‘Woah, woah, take it easy!’ I exclaimed, putting my hands up in a gesture of surrender. ‘It’s just a question!’ The girls relaxed a bit, but I could tell I had offended them. A lot.

‘To answer that question,’ Robin said coldly. ‘Yes, they are. Britt and I are both part of the whole Wattpad thingy. Do you trust us?’ I nodded, not sure what her point was.

‘Then you can trust them, too,’ Britt concluded. I saw the other guardians’ amused expressions and desperately searched for something to get their minds off me. Surprisingly, it was Robin who saved me.

*POV Bunnymund*

‘Hey, you know what?’ Robin asked suddenly. When I looked in her direction, I saw her eyes had grown big and, well, she was practically jumping up and down of excitement. Before anyone could reply, she continued. ‘I’ve got an idea for a new story! Britt, you could be in it, too!’ And before I knew it, the two girls were chatting excitedly once again. My eyes met North’s and I could tell I wasn’t the only one who had lost track of their talking.

*POV Anna*

‘Guys, guys! I’m sure that story is going to be amazing, but we need to focus right now!’ I said, raising my voice a little so Britt and Robin would hear me as well. They looked up, a hint of guilt written on their faces.

‘Sorry,’ Britt mumbled, stifling a giggle.

‘Alright, now I have your attention,’ I continued, happy to be able to speak immediately. ‘What are we going to do? I mean, we have done all we can against Pitch’s curse and we’re getting believed in more and more by the second. I believe… I believe our task sort of ends here.’ Even I was surprised, and a little sad, to be honest, at my own conclusion. There was not much we could do anymore.

‘I guess it’s time to take you two home,’ Tooth said, looking at Britt and Robin. They looked very disappointed, but they knew Tooth was right. Our quest ended here.

‘Well,’ Britt said in a small voice. ‘I hope the Wattpad thingy works.’

*POV North*

We all said goodbye to our two new friends, before I took out a snow globe to bring them back to The Netherlands.

‘Thank you for helping us,’ I thanked them. They nodded, a whole lot more silent, now they were about to leave.

‘If you ever need help again, just knock on our doors,’ Robin said. ‘Or preferably ring the bell. Otherwise I won’t here you.’ We all laughed at this, though it was just the regular truth.

From that moment on, everything went by in a blur. We took Britt and Robin home, said our goodbyes once again and then gathered at the Pole in the Globe room, where we watched in silence as more and more lights flickered back on.

‘Now all that rests us, except from the Pitch matter, is this,’ I said, getting several curious looks from my fellow guardians. ‘We need to find Anna’s centre and her place in our world.’

*POV Bunnymund*

‘North,’ I started sceptically. ‘We already know Anna’s centre.’ North made a vague gesture.

‘I know, Bunny, I know. But do we also know what it means?’ he replied. ‘How can you protect ‘the animal’ in a child? That sounds a little lugubrious, don’t you think? Most guardians are not lugubrious, as far as I’m concerned.’

*POV Anna*

North’s statement made me think. He was right. My centre was – no, is – ‘animals’, but that’s very different from hope or wonder or fun. What is the meaning of my existence? Why did I become a guardian. I looked around and saw nothing but determined expressions. I was going to find out, and my friends were going to help me.
