Chapter By: Merry and Pippin
Merry: This is an intense chapter! Are you ready Frodo?!
Everybody had made it back to the river safely. There were two boats docked, so everybody knew Frodo had come this way and crossed the river in the third boat. And hopefully Sam was with him. Nobody had seen him since before the battle. He kinda just disappeared.
Merry hoped into a boat with Pippin following right behind. Before Pippin could get totally settled inside the boat, Aragorn took him by the arm and helped him out of the boat.
"What? Why can't I go in that boat?" Pippin asked.
Aragorn explained how Merry and pippin should be in different boats so the weight of the two boats will be about equal. They had only two boats now, but more weight. Pippin understood it after a second time of explaining and hopped into the boat next to Merry with help from Boromir.
Pippin: I actually still don't really get the boat situation. Do you Frodo? I actually didn't want to get in the boat opposite from Merry because what happens next is...
Merry: No Spoilers yet! We will explain what happened next.
After Boromir helped Pippin get into the boat, he got into the boat with Merry. Aragorn got into the boat with Pippin. Just as Gimli was getting into the boat with Merry and Boromir, there was a loud crashing sound from behind them coming from the woods. The ground shook and a whole bunch of trees went flying all over the place along with dirt and wood scraps.
Pippin surprised, yelped and covered his ears from that terribly loud noise. Gimli had jumped getting startled and accidently pushed the boat out into the water. The boat was about to tip, but Boromir gained control of it with the oars. Legolas had turned to the woods bow in hand ready to shoot any unwanted creature to appear.
"We will meet you on the other side of..." Boromir was cut off when a huge group of orcs came running out of the woods. One of the orcs carried a spiky looking bomb in his hands. That's where the loud noise came from and the uprooted trees. Aragorn jumped out of the boat and started fighting. Legolas started shooting.
"We will meet you on the other side of the river!" Boromir repeated again and started rowing the boat to the other side of the river.
Pippin waved sadly at Merry and Merry waved back frowning. Aragorn started running towards the orc with the bomb hoping he wouldn't set it off. The orc gave an evil smirk, took out a match, and set the bomb. Aragorn started to leap into the air trying to stop the bomb and the orc, but it was too late. The orc threw the bomb. Aragorn landed on the orc and stabbed it in the head.
Everybody watched, as if in slow motion, the bomb. Boromir rowing faster, Gimli opening his mouth staring, Merry wide eyed clinging to the edge of the boat, and Pippin trying to scramble out of the boat quickly. Then the bomb landed. Right into the river. As soon as the bomb hit the water, it exploded. A huge wave of water drenched everybody and both the boats went flying out of the water.
The bomb had sent Merry's boat flying onto the other side of the river. Gimli landed in the shallow part of the water and Boromir had to help him out of the water quickly, because Gimli's armor was so heavy. Merry had landed under all the craps of the boat somehow. Boromir ran to his side after helping Gimli to his feet and then helped Merry out from under all the broken boat scraps. Merry shook off his body and surprisingly found himself in one piece.
He looked frantically to the other side of the river, eyes searching for Pippin and the boat. There was no boat or Pippin in sight.
"Where is he?" Merry asked starting to head to the water.
Boromir grabbed him firmly by the arm and pulled him back to the shore reminding him he couldn't swim. Merry pushed him back and started towards the water again, but failed.
"No use lad," Gimli mumbled. That had got Merry even more upset since it was so obvious.
They all watched in silence at the other side of the river as water dripped off their clothes. The very wet Aragorn and Legolas fought off the remaining orcs. Most of the orcs had fell into the water and drown because of their heavy armor.
Boromir and Aragorn made eye contact and Aragorn shouted,
"Meet us at the end of the river by the waterfall!"
Boromir cupped his hands and yelled,
"Fine. Meet you there,"
They both turned away but Merry cupped his hands and yelled,
"Find Pippin! Look after him for me!" a tear trickled down his sad face and he sniffed.
"I promise I will," Aragorn yelled back and turned to go find him.
"Let's go then," Boromir said quietly to Merry and Gimli.
"I'm not moving until I see Aragorn or Legolas find Pippin," Merry said.
Before Boromir could protest, a whole bunch of orcs flew out of the forest behind them and Gimli yelled and ran after them swinging his axe. Boromir grabbed Merry by the arm and pulled him along behind him. Merry remembered that if the orcs found him, they would take him.
Boromir told him to wait behind a boulder. He pointed towards one and Merry ran to it and crouched down. Boromir started to fight the orcs with Boromir as Merry sat behind the boulder looking over towards the other side of the river again.
He saw Aragorn on the ground and crawling around near some scraps of the boat. Legolas stood to the side and scanned the area. Most of the boat was gone, since the bomb had landed closer to Pippin's boat. Merry hoped he would be alright.
