~ Jessica POV ~

-"This chicken noodles is really good" I said as I devoured my dry soy sauce Chinese spaghetti.

-"Yeah, this place has been open for as long as I remember. Mr Yang started doing his signature noodles on the sidewalk as street food then with time he developed and opened up a restaurant that was actually in front of his street food carrier that entire time." He informed me as he, himself slurped his own beef noodles with vegetables.

-"And how do you know so much about him?"

-"Well last year he was in so much debt that he had to put the restaurant on sale. So I bought it."

-"You bought his restaurant?"

-"Yes and the entire building as well."

What!?

-"You bought the entire building?"

-"Babe you do know you're repeating everything I said right? Yes I bought all the property. In the beginning I only wanted to purchase the building for my business but then I saw Mr Yang and he invited me to try his dishes. Then I saw and listened to his story and I bought the place the next day."

-"But since it's yours now, why is he still there?"

-"Well I never said I was going to run the place. The restaurant was already going well. He had his regular costumers. I told him to continue doing whatever he was doing but under a paycheck. I just gave him enough to pay off his debt, redecorated the place to be more modern and did some PR."

Stopping eating, I looked at him smiling. This man actually saved that man from the possibility of being on the streets.
Does Daniel Dexter actually have a soft heart deep inside that hard surface?

-"Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked as he laughed not looking at me in the eyes.

Shaking my head, I continued my plate as I played with the chopsticks.
-"Nothing, Daniel I need to tell you everything."
And before he had the chance to comment back I continued:"Please don't say anything now, let me tell you everything I want."

Nodding his head, he stopped eating as he made himself comfortable on the couch with a glass of scotch.

Taking my glass of red wine, I sat next to him already feeling anxious and I started talking.

-"Two years ago, I was visiting my parents in Montana for Christmas. One particular night, I had a fight with my boyfriend at the time about him not being able to be satisfied with only one woman. I caught him cheating that night when I got to his apartment after he suddenly cancelled our date telling me he was down with a flu. I went in and saw him in bed with a girl."

I sipped some wine and avoiding looking at him as I continued.

-"So you know what will a girl do after catching her boyfriend cheating? I will tell you: Nothing. I just left his place before he could stop me, I drove my car in the snow and blizzard. I stopped in front of an open bar. Went in and started drinking heavily. After hours of gulping tequila shots down my throat, my brother called me and him being the protective older brother, he told me to wait in my car, not to move until he comes to pick me up. But that night, he never showed up."

Another sip of wine.

-"I woke up the next morning in my car, hangover and a mess. I somehow returned on the road. Good thing the blizzard had stopped. It was Christmas day. My phone started ringing, picking it up my mother delivered the most terrible news ever. Changing my route I headed to the hospital.

~ Flashback: 2 years ago in Montana Hospital ~

Inhale, Exhale. Everything's going to be okay.. Everything is okay... None of this is true... It's all a dream...
People screaming, blood, doctors and nurses running and getting through that door that says "Authorized Staff Only".
Oh my God, please let them live, I am begging you. It was my fault, the entire thing was my fault.
As I was crying and shaking in place, I couldn't even hear the words my mother and father who were next to me were telling me.
And after what felt like hours of waiting, finally a man wearing blue scrubs came out of the door, I don't remember how he looked like now that I think about it but what I do remember is him, coming towards me and standing in front of me with sadness and I knew that the words he was about to say weren't exactly something to celebrate about.
He breathed in and said: "I am sorry for your loss, we weren't able to save neither of them. The compact was to big and they weren't brought in time. I am truly sorry."
1,2,3... Inhale... Exhale... Inhale... Exhale... And the next thing I saw was darkness taking over.
