Chapter 50

~ Daniel POV ~

My love...

I saw her walking, running as cameras were around us.

-"Margaret, I'll be right back." I ran behind her. Margaret and I had a talk the other day.

~ Flashback to the morning Daniel talked with Jessica on the rooftop ~

I was a weak man. Jessica, my love, was right when she yelled at me. I sound like a wuss. The big businessman that everyone was scared of was just a pussy who couldn't even find a way to stay with the woman he loves.

I was a mess but after Jessica left me, I decided that I couldn't stay away from her. When I saw her sad eyes at Kai's birthday party I just wanted to go and hug her. To tell her that I am hers and ask her to be mine again. I know that me going that day was wrong but when her mom called me I was like a lost puppy excited to get back to it's owner.

The morning after she left me on the rooftop, I got back to the company and Margaret was waiting for me in my office.

-"We need to talk." she said.

Nodding my head, I sat down in front of her. There was no need for formalities so I didn't sit behind my desk.

-"Your dad met with Jessica this morning. Daniel we need to find a loophole in this contract. My boyfriend wants to elope with me. I don't care about the money. I can just leave without saying anything but I want to tell you so that you don't get surprised."

-"Elope? Why didn't you tell me you had a boyfriend? I HAD TO BREAK UP WITH MY GIRLFRIEND JUST BECAUSE I WANTED TO PROTECT HER."

-"YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW THAT? I've put an investigator on her even to protect her. I know you love her and she loves you. Daniel I've known you since we were 12, you think I can't notice the bags under your eyes and you not being able to focus?"

True, our families were close to one another and we've known each other since we were teenagers.

-"So what do you suggest Mer? You are just going to disappear like that?"

-"After two weeks I am leaving with my boyfriend. I am letting you know so that you don't get surprised. Don't worry, the media will be soft on you because they will say that you are the victim. You do one press release and it's over. The contract is cancelled." she said as she sighed.

-"Are you sure about this? I mean what about your family?"

-"I don't care anymore. I've always done what they've wanted from me to do. This time it's my turn. No more controlling."

~ End of Flashback ~

After that day, the two weeks have passed. Counting the days, Margaret had called to tell me that tomorrow she was leaving so she wanted us to go for dinner together one last time as a media game.

As we were surrounded by paparazzi as we were leaving the restaurant, I saw her. I knew it was wrong to follow her and continue playing the game until tomorrow. But then I saw her running without even looking towards the road and then seeing her on the road, lying down, covered in her own blood...

It was all my fault. It's my fault she is in the O.R. right now.

The doctors still hadn't said anything to me and it was now 4AM. We've arrived to the hospital at 12AM. It's been four hours. FOUR FUCKING HOURS.

-"Calm down Daniel. She will be fine." Margaret reassured me as she sat next to me trying to calm me down.

-"It's all my fault. If I had told her the truth after I met her on the rooftop she wouldn't be here right now." I said as I put my hands in my hair and pulled them.

I had called Ron as soon as we've arrived to the hospital. Told me he will be on the next flight to New York.

I called her mom who panicked and started crying. She was with us now, sitting and waiting as she prayed.

-"Daniel, my daughter is strong. She will be okay." she said as she shed more tears.

Yes she was strong, beautiful, smart. Please Jessica be okay. Don't leave me my love.

Finally after another half hour, the doctor came out of the operation room.

-"Please tell us she's okay." I quickly said to the doctor as he looked at all three of us.

-"Sorry sir but are you her husband?"

-"What?! YOU..."

-"He is her fiance. Please doctor tell us. Is my daughter okay?"

Fiance? I was shocked yet the words of the mother of my love made me so happy inside. She still saw me as a good person.

-"Yes don't worry. She had an internal bleeding in her stomach because she lost a lot of blood but other than that she only has a broken leg but she will be okay but we need to keep her under surveillance for a couple of days to monitor her."

Oh what a relief! She is okay. She is alive.

-"Can I see her doctor?" Madam Moore asked.

The doctor let us see her one by one.

-"I need to leave now Daniel. When Jessica is okay please can you give her this?" she said as she handled me an envelope.

Taking it I nodded. I knew this was her goodbye ad not see you later.

-"Goodbye Margaret and good luck with everything."

-"You too Daniel. You too."

-"She is a nice girl. She told me everything Daniel. Don't worry I am rooting for you my son." Madame Moore said as she walked towards the door of Jessica's room.

And like that, Margaret left.

She left because she couldn't handle it anymore but at least she was running away with the person she loved and cared about.

Some minutes later, Jessica's mom came out of her room, not crying anymore.

-"She knows you're here. She is fully awake now but still has some pain. Go in my son. I need to go to her apartment to get her some clean clothes and necessities. Don't break her heart this time."

-"I promise I won't." I answered truthfully.

Taking a deep breath, I turned the knob of her hospital room and entered.

There she was, lying in the white covered bed, in a white robe, her hair a mess and her face clean and then she looked at me. Her eyes watering she started to cry.

Quickly going towards her, I slowly hugged her, rocking her in my arms, her voice whimpering she said quietly.

-"I love you Daniel."

Not believing her, I looked into her beautiful eyes as I held her face in my hands.

-"Say it again."

-"I love you."

-"I love you too"

She was my angel...
