Giselle feels excitement zing through her veins as Putnam finally disappears from view. The last time she toured the Yakimian countryside she was only ten and Giselle is excited to see the land now that's she's the one ruling it. After reading for a few hours, the carriage pulls into a town. It's immediately obvious which building is the library--it's the tallest one around--and the rest of the buildings have that familiar white wash color separated only by sealed wooden cross beams. Despite the familiarity, Giselle can still feel her initial excitement

People are gathered in the street, forcing the carriage to a stop. Giselle slips her traveler's cloak off and steps out of the carriage and into the throng of waiting people. They cheer and reach for her, shouting their support or ideas. Giselle shakes so many hands that her wrist begins to hurt, but her smile is genuine the entire time. She manages to hold a conversation with a few people over the noise and legitimately considers a few of the ideas and inventions some of the people offer her. The Royal Guardsmen who are accompanying Giselle are, understandably, having conniptions as their queen walks unarmed through a crowd of people.

When the Royal Guardsmen finally reach Giselle, they promptly escort her to the hotel with a promise to Giselle that Montgomery and the carriage will follow when they can, and a promise to the people that their queen will see them again later tonight.
