Chapter IV : Astrid Holmes

The next morning

Astrid's POV

I didn't want to wake up, I stayed awake all night reading about dragons, they are not bad after all, and I read also about the writer, Mrs Cressida Cowell, she seems like a big deal.

Luckily, mom didn't bother me with her long speechs, she wasn't talkative unlike every morning, so I slept well on the road to school.

- Mom ?
- Yeah sweetie ?
- Tonight I will come back home alone, don't bother yourself and come here.
- Alright Asty be careful and don't be late !
- Ok ok I'm not a kid anymore mom !
- ouhhaha goodbye honey ! And she left.

Ugh, I wonder if she was my mom. Thank God my father isn't home to see that.

And another school day begins, I'm wondering how it will end. But I have a great plan for today.

Exactly when I got to school I was greeted by two zombie looking twins. Great ! The last one...Well ones I wanna see right now.
- Hey Asty ! You are not mad about yesterday, are you ? Tuffnut asked all innocent like.
- Not at all. I said plastering a fake smile on my zombie face.
- So...have any of you seen Hayden ? I asked totally cracking the awkward silence.
- No, but why do you want to know, exactly ? Ruffnut asked. Great ! How do I answer that ? I am totally losing track of what I am saying. I have to start thinking twice before I speak. So I just said...

- Well you know just....I started to trail off a bit.
- Because you like him ! Ruffnut literally squealed. Oh no ! They are suspicious. The last thing I want to happen is that these two knows how I feel towards HIM.
- What...Pffff nooo..l.l.Like him ..never ! I said more like stuttered. They just giggled and we continued to walk 'til we reached the rest of the gang in the hallway. But I seemed to notice that.. Hiccup wasn't there. Where could that guy be ? So I left the gang saying I had to get something, and took off to look for Hiccup. That guy is driving me crazy. He has a lot of exposing to do. Ugh !! Its been over thirty minutes and Hiccup is nowhere to be found. I checked the halls, classrooms, lunchroom, park but I didn't find anything.

I got a little tired from searching everywhere so I just sat on top of a little hill in the park which had a tree on top of it. I laid my back to it and I just had a little moment of silence, 'til...BAM a branch hit my head.

- Oww hey watch wher-ohh Hayden what are you doing up there ? I asked Hayden who was reading on top of the tree.
- Just reading. He said while shrugging. God this boy is full of mystery. And he is so so cute. Wait ! What ? Focus Astrid, he is trying to control you. So I just motioned him to come with me since the bell already rang and we have the same class.

It was the most awkward 5 minutes of my entire life just walking to class with my crush. But I really need to know what's up with this guy. And I am gonna find that out tonight.

God that sounded cheesy.

After school, and luckily, mom didn't come as usual. Eventually, I started my plan. But I need to get separated from the gang.
- So see you guys tomorrow ! And I left, at least that's what seemed to happen to them. Actually, I was hiding behind a bush on the street side ( That reminded me of the twins ! ), Watching carefully as each one went home, leaving Hiccup alone.

That's my chance ! I jumped and ran on my toe tips to another bush, then to another, then to another following Hiccup who seemed unconscious of what's going behind his back.

After like 5 minutes, Hayden stopped in front of a big house, far probably his. The lights were all shut 'til he got in. I can clearly see his shadow, he was getting undressed, then he wore a jacket I think, shorts and sneakers and got out, turning off the light.

Where's he going ? I got back onto my feet, and followed him, secretly.

Another 5 minutes later, we were at a Gym, and he got in, slamming the big door shut.

I went behind the big building, to where we usually throw trash. I climbed onto a trash can, so I can reach a window. Those James Bond movies really taught me great spying strategies, but I don't remember they included trash. And....I COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I SAW IN 'HERE !
