31~ Bodyguard of Lies

"What do we do?" Jasper asks frantically. "They don't trust Maya anymore. Who's gonna help us?"

I stand up from my sitting position, where I had fallen from the trash chute, and look towards Bellamy, who's standing slightly behind me, his hand placed on my lower back. "Slow down there, Jasper." He says. "They're going to help us."

A group of twenty adults come out of a room in Maya's house. Among the twenty adults is Maya's father. 

"We're going to hide you." Maya's father says. "Not everyone here agrees with Cage. Not by a long shot."

"What about Bellamy?" Monty asks. 

"They still don't know I'm here." Bellamy says, stepping towards Jasper. "And I need to keep it that way." Bellamy walks over to Jasper and pulls on the bulletproof vest. "They also don't know Tatum's here either. She's gonna come with me." Jasper slips off the vest and hands it to Bellamy. 

"That's good and all but my hat is still in the mess hall on level five." I say as Bellamy hands me the vest. 

"No." Bellamy pulls the hat out from his pocket. 

"How'd you-" I begin.

"I grabbed it right before I jumped down the trash chute."

I smile slightly before pulling the vest on and flipping my hair over, tying it in a knot and placing the hat on my head. 

"We're coming with you two." Jasper says. 

"No." I demand. "I'm not risking your lives too."

"We'll be fine, Jasper." Bellamy says. "We've got each other." The last sentence coming out of his mouth very sentimental. I glance over at Bellamy, who's already looking at me. 

"Together." I say grabbing his arm and pulling him towards the door to the outside of Maya's home. 

"Together." Bellamy agrees, following me. 

"It'll be okay, Jasper." I say, nodding towards him. 

And then we were out. Slowing our pace of run down to a peaceful walk. As we're walking Bellamy growls slightly and messes with his ear. 

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"This stupid earpiece. It keeps buzzing." Bellamy complains. 

We turn a corner and Bellamy attempts to use his keycard to get in the elevator. He swipes it through and instead of it turning green and a tiny ding sounding, it turns red and the words access denied pop up. 

"They know." I mumble. 

"Shit." Bellamy mumbles. We take off running in the opposite direction of the elevator, trying to get as far away from it as possible. "I'm a little busy here, Raven." Bellamy says. 

I completely forgot that Bellamy can communicate with Raven. 

Bellamy seems to be listening to her response. "I'm making my way there now." Bellamy answers. "It's taking longer than I thought."

"What's she talking about?" I ask. 

"The acid fog room." Bellamy answers. "Raven, my key card quit working." 

Bellamy quiets down, listening to what Raven is saying. 

"We need to find another way in." He says. "I'll call you back."

"Stay right there!" Loud booming voices come from behind us. We both turn to face three guards, pointing weapons at us. "Hands in the air!"

We take off running. Sprinting as fast as we can away from the guards. We run, what feels like, to be the entire mountain. We turn into one door way, Bellamy leading, and sprint up three flights of stairs. On the second flight we hear the door below us open once again and a guard enter, chasing after us.
