I had been thinking of ways to change my mom's mind about Blake when he called me.

"Hey. How are you?" I sigh just happy to hear his voice.

"I'm trying to find a way to make my mom accept the fact that we like each other."

"I asked you how you were, not about the situation." The word situation made a tingling feeling crawl up my spine. This was a situation now.

"I just don't know why she doesn't want me to be happy."

"Of course she wants you to be happy, she just doesn't want to see you get hurt." But my mom treats Blake like her own son, she knows that he can be trusted. So why get questionable now?

"I know."

"Look, maybe we should just stay friends and see how things work out. We could talk to your mom about it and wait until the right time. Maybe we are rushing things a bit." I flinch like I just got slapped and my stomach sinks down to the floor.

"So you're saying that we should break up?" He takes a breath.

"I'm saying that maybe your mom has a point. We need each other as friends. Because if this relationship screws up our friendship then I don't know what I'd do without you."

I don't say anything to him. I just stare at my wall. At my pinboard of pictures of the two of us. I look at the one where I'm on Blake's back laughing and he is spinning around.

Whoever was holding the camera caught us right as Blake looked up at me on his back laughing. This was my favorite picture of us. I'm knocked out of my daze when Blake says my name.

"Yeah."

"So...friends?"

"Friends."

I went down to the kitchen where mom was making brownies and told mom that me and Blake had broken up and when she asked why I didn't want to admit that she was right, but I didn't want to not see Blake again so I did.

She seemed to be holding back a smirk that said I told you so, but I pretended not to notice as she whisked the brownie mix.

"I guess since you two aren't together that he can come over again." I gave her a halfhearted thanks and went up to my room.

Me: Hey

Blake: Hey :)

Blake: Did you tell her?

Me: Yes. She says now you can come over

Blake: omw ;)

Ten minutes later Blake and I were sitting on my floor munching on brownies.

"So did your Mom actually make these?" I shake my head no.

"Straight from the box." His deep voice rumbles as he chuckles.

"I remember that day." He looks at the picture of us on the pinboard.

"You were tired of walking so you just jumped on my back."

"I hate the zoo. Love the animals but not the walking." He laughs. And we both are silent remembering the day.

Day of picture

"It's too hot." I say to Blake. He is two strides in front of me and I am lagging behind with mom. "Why did you have to pick the hottest day of summer for the zoo?"

"Awe come on you stinker its not that far to the penguins.

"The penguins always stink."

"And you're  stinker so there's no problem. Come on." At that point I was about to fall on the ground but I decide to run up behind Blake and leap onto his back. His strong arms grip my thighs to keep me from falling back down and he groans.

"It's too hot for that stinker." Even though he has a smile on his face.

"Carry me." He grins and leads me to the mist fans. It feels wonderful on this hot day. He looks back at me enjoying the mist and smiles at me.

Then he spins me around. I shriek as he playfully acts as if he will drop me lossening his grip on my legs but I know he won't. He spins me around as were laughing and I don't hear the click of my mind camera going off.

Back to present day

We both smile at each other. He looks at his phone checking the time.

"Tired?" I smile.

"Exhausted."

Waking up to hear Blake's steady breathing next to me makes me smile the next morning. We talked all night and then fell asleep in each others embrace at around two in the morning.

I look out the window and notice my mom's car gone which must mean that its after twelve. My moms shift as manager at Victorias secret starts at twelve on the weekends.

I wiggle out of Blake's arms and go to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Then I go downstairs and start making some eggs and pancakes. A few minutes later I hear the pat of Blake's feet coming down the stairs.

"Good morning." I turn around and smile at him, admiring his ruffled bed head and tired eyes.

"Good morning." I say back to him. I flip a pancake and he says.

"Have I ever told you that you look amazing in my t-shirt?" I blush furiously and shake my head no. Then I feel an arm snake around my waist and I feel him behind me.

"Well you do." I can feel myself wanting to turn around and press my lips to his but I stop myself not knowing if he would approve.

Instead he turns me around himself and looks me in my eyes. He cups my cheek and comes closer to me. I start to close my eyes when he says.

"I have to go." He quickly removes his hand from my cheek and his arm from my waist and runs upstairs.

Moments later he comes back down with his jacket keys and shoes and slams the door behind him before I can utter a word.
