Chapter 9 : Like a corpse

Im wearing something nice, like church-clothes nice. When I'm in school, I just grab something from the floor or from my cabinet. This time I did my own washing and ironing. A violet polo shirt, jeans and my nike running shoes. I only wear clothes like this if there's a special occasion and going to Julia's house to talk to his Uncle is a very very big special occasion.

I ask Javy to drive me to their place, he said yes but he only drive to their driveway. I have to walk from there upto their house. Javy likes Julia because he can see that she's nice but its her Uncle that he's afraid of.

Since the other night, I've been practicing what to say to his Uncle, like : 'Hi Mr. Veran. I'm Jonathan Enrique Lucien, and I'm here to ask if I can go out with your niece' or 'Good Evening Mr. Veran. I really like your niece, I was hoping maybe you would allow me to go out with her.'. I've never did things like these. So yeah, I'm nervous.

Pagdating ko sa bahay nila, inaasahan ko na makikita ko ulit yung dalawang aso, pero ang bumungad sa akin ay dalawang aso na gawa sa bato. Kamukha nila yung umatake sa akin, siguro ito ang tunay nilang anyo.

Umakyat na ako patungo sa bahay nila. Everytime I take a step on the floor, it gives a creak sound. Pakiramdam ko bibigay ang sahig. Luckily, I reach the door without breaking their stairs. I smell myself a bit, I still smell good. The weather is a little bit windy, making me not to sweat that much.

I don't know what to do, ring their doorbell, or knock using the small metal ring at the middle. I took a deep breath and push the doorbell. It gives a old, horror bell sound.

Kinabahan ako na ako. The flowers that I was about to give to Julia was taken away by a black bird, I think it was a raven. Bigla na lang kinuha sa akin yun habang nag lalakad ako, kaya ngayon mukha akong tanga na walang dala.

The door open ang gives out a low moaning sound. Feeling ko buhay yung pinto, dahil bumukas mag-isa. Saktong pag silip ko, may biglang tumalon sa harap ko. I jump out and the kid laugh. He's wearing a fox mask, "You should've seen your face. You are such a dweeb." the little boy said.

My hand is on my chest, then Julia appear behind the boy. "Mingus ! What did your mother told you?!" she scold the little boy.

"But Julia, I was just joking." Mingus said. Nag-iba ang itsura niya. Hindi pala siya naka maskara, dahil bigla na lang ito nawala ng hindi niya tinatanggal. I think he's around ten yrs. old. A blonde hair and fair skin. His eyes are deep black, like Julia's. Maybe this kid is a creator too.

"Just go back inside." She told him. Bumalik ng naka tungo ang bata sa loob. Humarap sa akin si Julia na tila parang nagulat. "Enrique. Ikaw pala yan. What are you doing here?" she ask me.
