"I'm so sorry I can't stop myself from staring at you, when you're tired and blue, my dear. It's just any reason I get to be closer to you, I wanna shout about it. I wanna shout about it" - Shout About It by The Vamps

Rochelle Humes as Malika Betts
-
Malika lays in Harrison's arms crying hysterically. Malika had just caught her boyfriend/fiance of five years cheating on her and the first person she went running to was Harrison. She showed up at his door at 10pm, soaking wet from the thunderstorm that was raging in the San Francisco. Her makeup was running down her face and her clothes were stuck to her skin, revealing her bra underneath.
When Harrison opened the door, she flew right into his arms, not having the energy to hold herself up anymore. He worriedly took her to his couch and sat her on his lap. He tried his best to comfort her by rubbing soothing circles on her back and telling her that it's gonna be okay, but what more could he do or say to make the situation better for her?
"He's cheating on me, Harrison!" she chokes out, not having much energy to continue.
"I know. I'm sorry baby," he tries to comfort her.
"I saw all the texts and phone calls and I followed him to her place and I didn't think anything of it in the beginning, but I went home one night and they were having sex in our shower! I feel so worthless and so shitty! Why would he do this to me? I thought he loved me!" she cries out hysterically.
"Babygirl, why don't I take you out to our favorite ice cream shop? My treat?" he asks, hoping it would cheer her up.
"Sure," she tries to smile.
She goes upstairs to his room and changes into a pair of his clothes that were too big, but would have to do. They leave his condo and get into his car. The entire ride to the ice cream shop, Harrison does everything in his power to try and get her to smile and laugh. It pains him to see a woman he loves be in so much pain and have so much heartache. He wishes he can at least get her to smile and to forget about Michael and only focus on them and their friendship.
The thing that hurts the most is that Harrison is truly, madly, deeply in love with Malika Betts and he wishes he could express his feelings, but he knows that she doesn't feel the same. He knows that he'll never be nothing more than a friend or brother to her, but he's learned to accept it. He just knows that as long as he's around her, then that's enough for him to feel like he's on cloud nine.
They arrive at the ice cream shop and he buys her favorite and they sit in silence, even though he's begging for her to speak.
"Do you think I'm worthless or that I don't deserve love?" she asks, her eyes showing vulnerability.
"Of course you're not worthless! You deserve all the love in the universe, babygirl! Don't let what that asshole did to you change who you are!" he reassures her, taking her hand into his.
For the first time in the entire night, she smiles a little, which puts him over the moon in delight.
"HB, promise me that no matter what happens, you'll always be here for me, even after you move to Dallas," she says, her heart laced with weakness.
"I promise, babygirl. No matter where I am in the world, I'm always a phone call or text message away. You can always count on me for anything, no matter what," he answers her truthfully.
He knows that she'll never feel the same he he feels about her and he's okay with that. As long as he's there for her as a friend or brother, that's enough for him because all he needs is to be around her for his heart to feel content and loved. He feels like the happiest man in the world when he's by her side.
He just hopes that maybe one day she'll see that he loves her in a romantic way and not in just a platonic way.
