It's been a few days since she's seen Aaron at the coffee shop and she can't stop thinking about him. She saw how great he looked and the smile he had on his face with his arms wrapped around his new girl. She couldn't help but notice how his face has changed slightly and how much more built he has become, since they had broken up months prior.
Tonight she is going to go out with her teammates to a party that FIJI, a fraternity, is holding at their house. She gets ready for the party and meets up with her teammates before taking an Uber to the Fiji house. When they get there, there aren't many people there. They get inside and her teammates Amber, automatically goes up towards her boyfriend, James who is on the E-Board for the fraternity.
Alexa grabs a drink and mingles around with other members of the Fraternity, who are super nice and friendly. After an hour, the party really starts getting crazy and tons of people start arriving at the FIJI house. One of the people that happens to show up at the party is Aaron, which shocks the crap out of Alexa.
"Alexa, what are you doing here?" he asks her, as he bumps into her.
"I'm here with a few of the girls from the team. What are you doing here?" she asks him.
"I'm here to catch up with the homies," he informs her, dapping up a few dudes that pass by.
"Cool," she nods, before taking a sip of her drink.
"Nice seeing you," he awkwardly smiles.
"You too," she awkwardly smiles in return, before walking away.
She immediately chugs her drink down in an attempt to forget about seeing Aaron tonight. She quickly pours herself another drink and chugs it, feeling a buzz starting to set in. The song Not Nice by PARTYNEXTDOOR comes on and she makes her way over to the dance floor. She starts dancing along to the Dancehall hit. After half a minute, a body starts pressing up against hers. She looks at the man pressed up against her and she recognizes him as one of James' frat brothers.
She loses herself in the song and doesn't care that she's slightly drunk. She's doing everything possible to forget about that awkward encounter she had with Aaron earlier. She's hoping the alcohol, the atmosphere, and the music will make her forget about him and her love for him.
After the song, she starts talking to James' friend, who's name is Dylan. They start flirting with each other and she boldly kisses his cheek, before giving him her number. She eventually makes her way back to the kitchen and grabs another drink. She mingles her way through the party, talking to plenty of strangers. She ends up going back to Dylan and while she's talking to him, she notices Aaron watching from the corner of her eyes. With the help of liquid courage, she quickly crashes her lips on Dylan's, wrapping her arms around him. He kisses her back, wrapping her arms around his waist. After a minute, they break apart to catch some air and she notices the look that Aaron is giving her, which a confused one.
She smiles at him before grabbing Dylan by the hand and bringing him towards the pool tables. They spend the rest of the night hanging out and she tries her hardest to make Aaron jealous. She wants to make him feel the hurt she felt when he broke her heart. Eventually the night comes to an end and she is in an Uber back to her place with her friends.
It's in the back of the Uber that she realizes that no matter what she does, she'll only hurt herself trying to hurt him. She continues to think about him and how much of an idiot she looked trying to make him jealous. She tried to drown him out with music, alcohol, dancing, and Dylan and ultimately it only hurt her more than it hurt him.
No matter what, Aaron Gordon has her heart and only time can make the pain go away and then, she can finally move on wither her life. She just hopes she doesn't lose herself in the process.
