"In another world, oh I know, I know, I know that you'd be my girl, and nothing would tear us apart. Another universe. The stars would light the way for just the two of us and nothing would tear us apart," Another World by The Vamps

Karlie Kloss as Kate Websdale
-
Karl looks at the latest blog posts from the media and how they are blaming his recent poor playing on potential relationship drama which he finds ridiculous. He sees headlines talking about how him and his girlfriend are falling apart, which is not that far off. He and Kate have been thrown to the wolves. Everyone has been telling him about how he should live his life and who should get into relationships with. All of this talk has lead to a further divide between a straining relationship between Kate, a girl he met during All Star weekend in New Orleans.
She was working as an intern for a beat writer on the local newspaper at the time and the two clicked. They tried to keep in contact even with the craziness that was Karl's NBA schedule. Six months later and he feels that they are slowly drifting apart. He hasn't spoken to her in four days and he's questioning the future of their relationship. After thinking for a logn time, he decides he needs to take action. He needs to decide whether to fight for her or to let her go because she deserves someone who will be able to give her the attention and love she deserves.
He decides to end it all with one phone call while in a hotel room in Atlanta. She surprisingly takes it well and he's left to wonder if she was thinking the exact same thing.
A week later, he still finds himself laying awake at night because he can't get her out of his head. He quickly notices that she has moved on and is starting to spend a lot of time with someone who goes to LSU with her. Even though he's glad she's happy, he can't help but feel terrible inside because that's supposed to be him and not some other guy.
Every night, when he goes to sleep, he reunites with her. In his dreams, he and Kate are together and happy with each other. He knows that if they lived in "another world", they would be able to live together without the worries of long-distance. He wouldn't be an NBA star with a hectic life and a busy schedule. He would just be Karl; a 21-year-old college student studying something like business or kinesiology. They would be perfect together and nothing would ever tear them apart.
Now he just holds onto the memories that they had together and keeps them in the back of his mind. However, he cannot daydream forever and eventually, he comes crashing back to earth at the realization that he is not truly happy because he is not with her.
However, it always goes back to the beginning. Everyone talked about their relationship and is now talking about how much their breakup has effected him and his recent poor playing. However, he just ignores them even though he knows they're right, but it's all their fault. If they didn't put things into his head, then he wouldn't have ended things with her for what he believed would be for their own goods, and he wouldn't be miserable now. Either way, there was no positive outcome to his relationship with Kate.
He just wishes things didn't have to end the way they did with her even though he knows Kate Websdale deserved someone better than him.
