                                                     Chapter 7

On the USS Minnesota, Peris quickly relayed on a satellite link, to his superiors at the Pentagon, that all three birds had flown from their nest.  Even with a hot under the collar General getting back onto him, he still was trying to reassure him everything wasn't lost. And all they really only needed do was detain the men on the island.

He regretted it was more messy, but still salvageable –as all three had trackers.  And all they needed to do was locate them. And then bring the bodies back to the boat for autopsy.

"And what about the boys there now Peris," the General inquired.

"Sir, as you know they are now armed. If we land more men, there can only be two outcomes. Either we kill them –which will set things back for us, or they succeed in killing our men. And from what I understand, two served in special ops, so this will only lead to more casualties. As these boys from what I just witnessed on cam, know how to handle themselves?  Even the trap they set for our guys was special ops all the way.  Our grunts haven't a chance against their training."

"So we sacrifice a few?"  The General came back understandingly.

"A few is nothing."

"No, more die for sure in training." Then after a moment, "Give the order then Peris.  But I want to see results.  We'll parcel it off to their families they perished on some classified assignment, and are entitled to full military honours –and all that hogwash."

"Yes sir."

Even though Peris had been aware there was brain activity from the one lying on the roof –that he wasn't dead. He assumed he was in paralysis, after severe spinal cord injury.  He had to applaud his performance, the way he left it to the last moment.  It was special ops all the way.  Zoning out mentally, and only restarting the machine when he was ready to move into action –which had been with swiftness he hadn't expected.
