In the US, about a week later
A Baptist priest in a remote Tennessee community, preached proudly how God had punished the sinners, to his gathered flock of twenty five, waving his hands vigorously, to direct his brimstone and fire sermon.
All listened, attentively, most though were miners, save underground when it happened, their wives, family, no more, but new plots at the chapel’s graveyard.
As for the priest on that fatal moment, he had be rogering hard one of the miner’s wives, in the depths of the basement at his church; who now sat beside her husband blushing somewhat, on the third row down.
Outside, unknown to the gathering, a huge commercial satellite as big as a truck, was just in the process of hurling down onto the church, as its wake of fire followed it like a falling meteor. Lots would suffer a similar fate, as man’s ingenuity could no longer be sustained, without man’s intervention. In truth, countries hit, were starting to fall back into a simpler way of life. It would be some time before the most advanced country in the world, could proudly boast the same again.
It seemed crazy too, the sentinel in space, had never been programmed to guard against a simple thing like a satellite slipping its orbit, and falling to Earth. Strangely, it watched this, like a child, trying to think of an action, as the huge metallic structure slipped slowly farther and farther, and farther away, from its grasp.
