Just moments before the flight leader had reported loss of satellite, a family in a mid western US town sat down for their evening meal. Their father, Tobias, sat at the head of the table, his wife to the far side. To his left, were his two sons, budding on becoming teenagers, and holding with the moment all the craziness that went with that age; as they laughed and joked, and generally did the fool. He watched his wife hand out various platters their way, after first asking him if he was okay for more. Which he smiled and told her he was, and said for her to carry on. After all, he hadn’t even touched his yet.
He was strangely thinking he might ask his father to go fishing with him later, on the lake, if the weather held up as good as it was then. As they hadn’t done that for quite some time, and they had a lot of catching up to do.
He was hoping to use that time to make his old man see sense. He needn’t concern himself fully anymore about their business. That he could take care of things now. After all, he had been training him for the post on how to run a funeral directory service, since he was just a little hopper. He felt positive about the move –for a man in his early thirties. Knowing in time, his two boys would one day take him out on a boat, for an innocent days fishing, to ask similar.
He was just in the process of launching into chat with his boys, marvelling at the same time at how great his wife’s pot-roast always turned out.... When his whole life suddenly changed, like he would have never dreamed possible, on that beautiful day, surrounded by those he loved.
