"Heard the tracks?"

"You gave me the tracks yourself!"

"I can't tell the difference between Harry and Zayn any more."

"No one can. It's annoying me."

"I'm going to the MSG gig tomorrow."

"Yeah, I remember."

"He's bringing his entire family, I think."

"How is he these days?"

"Still the same. I dunno."

"I heard about Liam."

"Everyone did. Well Dani's coming with me to New York, so I guess there's a glimmer of hope there."

"You're even thinking about that? I don't know who got the idea that she looks like Leona but as far as I care, they don't resemble each other at all."

"I'm only hoping. And Leona's playing strategic, you know. They're denying actually going out but if that knocks some sense into that German guy-"

"Wait, how did a German guy get into this?" I don't exactly sit on Google news all day looking at stuff. And I was curious.

"Boyfriend but they broke up. I'm not entirely clear as to what's going on her side of it, but all we need right now is a video of him and Dani dancing and that's the end of them."

"Another dancer?"

"Yep."

"One of my friends was talking about Liam and Leona being locked in a room for a few hours."

"That's what Louis told me."

"See, I haven't heard from any of them in a while now."

"You tried to get away from Niall, they're doing just that for you. They're cutting off communication between you and Niall for you."

"But I thought-"

"You're too clueless to think. It's like this both sides of camp. Niall's been told you're not answering."

"But they only called a few times and that was in class anyway. I even replied to Liam once, saying that I was in class and to not call before 6pm Monday to Friday."

"The point is that they've convinced Niall you don't want to hear from him."

"I'm not sure if that's a good idea any more. I actually don't."

"You've spent half a year away from them, how can you still be doubting now?"

"Most nights when I close my eyes I see his face flash before me. I don’t know why. It's like seeing a starving kid. I've screwed up the friendship by doing this."

"You would have expected it, wouldn't you? Ignoring someone like this." She turned stern. "You decide to come to university, that's a good thing. Get a career and stuff. A secure job. But you're coming here to get away from Niall."

"I would have ditched them halfway through US anyway. If I hadn't decided to come here before, I would have settled in New York and started my own street dance crew. Because face it, Eleanor, it wasn’t going to work out anyway, even if I tried. Dani's a prime example. I've just saved Niall from having to deal with the same shit Liam had to face. People don't like non-conformity. I don't conform. People won't like me. Even if I'm friends with you, have friends here who can look beyond that, was close to One Direction. They don't like the look of you, they can bully you into submission, resent, or a vaguely autistic person. That last category. Those people suffer long after the bullying has stopped. Because they keep everything to themselves. They don't know who they can share it with. They can't decide if a person, they've just met, is friend or foe. Every time they make friends with someone it's a risk for them. A risk of exposing a weakness. If they like someone, they  won't show intimacy. They don’t know how to."
