Nico meets Scout

Relationship status: not together

"I'll only be a minute Nico, I've got to have a quick shower." Said Will rushing though his clothes cupboard and ran towards the showers.

"Great." Said Nico sarcastically. He sat on Will's bottom bunk bed and looked around the room.

A little girl popped her head around the door frame.
She had short-ish brown hair in a pony tale and had a fringe. The girl wore beige shorts and an aqua coloured t-shirt with an orange gold fish on the front. She looked about 5 or 6.

No one else was in the cabin except for Nico and this little girl. When she walked into the room, Nico noticed that she was bare foot.

The little girl sat cross legged on the floor in front of Nico.

"Are you waiting for Will?" The little girl asked Nico.

"Yeah." He replied bluntly.
There was a silence between them for about a minute before she spoke.

"Did you know that when male bees mate, their sexual organs explode, causing them to die?" She said casually.

Nico had a confused and slightly concerned look on his face.
"Um no...where did you learn about that?" Nico asked the little girl.

"I borrowed this book from the Athena cabin when they weren't looking."

"Isn't that called stealing?" Nico pointed out.

"I'm going to give it back when I'm done with it." She defended.

There was another silence between them.

"Have you ever killed anyone?" She asked casually.

Nico didn't want to lie to her, but he didn't want to tell her the truth either.
"Why?" He asked.

"I just thought that you probably do it all the time because your a child of Hades, God of the under world and death." She said straightening her legs out in front of her and wiggling her toes.

"Um, no I don't kill people for enjoyment, I'm not a psychopath. Just because my dad is Hades doesn't mean I like death.
How did you know who my dad was?" He asked.
The little girl did a head stand against the wall so she was upside down.

"I know a lot of things. I know that you have a half sister called Hazel Levesque that lives at camp Jupiter and is dating Frank Zhang, the new Praetor." She said still upside down.

"Did someone tell you this?"

She sat back down, her fringe sticking up in all different directions.

"No, I like observing people. Chiron was talking to a son of Jupiter called Jason Grace. He was talking about you and the fact that you stayed at camp. Chiron said that he thought it was because you were tired of being alone however Jason Grace said it was because of my brother Will.
I did some research on you just to make sure you weren't planning on murdering him."
Nico gulped, how did Jason figure that out and how did the girl come to that conclusion.

"I remember thinking that this was weird," said the little girl, "because I had never seen you and Will even talk before. Apparently you two are closer than I thought." She said narrowing her eyes at him.
"What now?" Nico asked.

"Do you like mandarins?"

"What kind of question is that?"
"I always have a reason for everything I ask and every fact I say, answer the question." She said pointing one of her fingers at him.
Nico groaned,
"Not really."
She smiled,
"Good because Will is allergic to them. I don't won't you to send him into an anaphylactic shock by eating a mandarin and then kissing him."
"Wait, What?!" Nico said blushing.
She grinned evilly.

"Hey Nico, sorry that took a while." Said Will coming into the cabin.
"Oh no, please tell me she didn't talk to you." Said Will noticing that the little girl was sitting opposite Nico.
She grinned evilly,
"I hope you enjoyed your shower William Peter Solace." Said the little girl in a conniving tone.
"Go away Scout." Said Will waving a hand at her.

"Will, did you know that when two people kiss, over 200 million germs are passed between their mouths." Said Scout glancing at Nico as she got up and dusted off her pants.

"No and I don't really care. Go find someone else to annoy." Said Will grumpily.
Scout stuck her tongue out at Will.

"Remember Nico, stay away from mandarins."She said before running back into her room.

"I'm really sorry about her Nico. She's really annoying and sometimes unintentionally inappropriate." Will apologised.
"I get what you mean by unintentionally in appropriate. How old is she?" Nico asked.

"6 turning 7 in 147 days." Scout called out from the other room.

"She's got a large vocabulary for a 6 year old." Said Nico as Will put his shoes on.

"Tell me about it. At least you don't have to live with her. She's cute and wacky at the start, but then she gets annoying and nosy."

I like the character Scout, you will definitely be hearing more from her.
