Questioned Love

Pain

Pearl's P.O.V:
I can't believe what I've just done. After I attacked Stevonnie, I heard her whisper, "Why?" just before I heard Lapis screaming. They unfused with Steven's gem landing on my right and Connie on my left with a big gash in her midsection. I was terrified about what I did. Lapis took Connie and Steven's gem back to the temple as fast as possible. "What are the others going to think?" When I turned around I saw Peridot staring at me with her eyes wide. She didn't say anything.

Connie's P.O.V:
I can't move. Everything hurts, especially my torso. I had a flashback of what happened: We were having fun and laughing with Lapis as Stevonnie, then all of the sudden I remember Pearl charging at us and Lapis screaming. Pearl. I open my eyes to see Garnet, Amethyst, and Lapis looking at me back at the temple. "How did I get here? Lapis must have brought us here...Where's Steven?!" "We need to take her to Rose's fountain. Now." I hear Garnet say. Then I heard Lapis crying. I groaned in pain as she picked me up and got to the warp pad. "G-garnet..." I say in pain. "Don't talk" she says firmly. It felt like forever and a lot of pain later until there suddenly was cold water all around me and I could feel my pain going away. I-"Need air" I quickly start to swim to the surface but I'm grabbed by Garnet and she lifts me out of the water. I take a deep breath as she puts me down and I hug Lapis and Garnet thanking them for saving my life. "Where's Steven?" I suddenly ask. Lapis looked as if she might start crying again and Garnet looked like her usual self. "Garnet?!" I said, tearing up. "He's fine. But first, who did this?" "Pearl" I said without skipping a beat. Garnet looked over at Lapis, and Lapis nodded her head. Without saying anything, we warped out of the fountain area and when we arrived back we saw Pearl holding Steven's gem.

Garnet's P.O.V:
When I saw Pearl holding his gem, I summoned my gauntlets. She looked utterly terrified and I started fighting myself:
"We need to teach her a lesson!"
"No! We need to talk to her."
"All you ever want to do is talk!"
"If we talk there isn't any chance of you shattering her!"
" ...Fine. We'll TALK."
I didn't put away my gauntlets, but I did grab her arm and said, "Why would you do such a thing?" Connie looked like she might shatter Pearl herself. I held up my hand and she calmed down. A little bit. After a moment of thinking, Pearl said, "I remember when Rose grew very fond of Greg and she never came back... I just didn't want it to happen to Steven."

Connie's P.O.V:
I couldn't help it. I screamed. "That's why you almost killed me and Steven?! Because we loved each other?!" Pearl flinched. "Good" I think too myself. "You really don't know us do you?" "Connie, I-" she started. "No!" I cut her off. I ran and took Steven's gem from her and ran out the door crying.
