I was pulled out of my nap by the sound of arguing coming from the other side of the door.
"What do you mean I can't bring her around anymore? I sure as hell can! She's my roommate and friend. I'm not just going to quit hanging out with her, Harry. I happen to like her and I think you would too if you quit being such an ass and actually gave her a chance."
I was now up and out of bed, standing by the door trying to hear more of the conversation.
"Why don't you like her, Harry? She's been noting but nice to you."
Well, that's not entirely true. I originally tried being nice to Harry but he kept making it increasingly difficult for me to continue trying to be even cordial.
"This is not the Harry that I'm friends with. I don't know where he is but I'd sure as hell like him back."
"What the hell are you talking about?!" Harry's deep voice boomed.
"You know... I think I've got it. You like her... Don't you, Harry?" Marina's voice grew quieter, making me strain my ears just to catch what she said.
"What? Fuck no!" Harry exclaimed.
"Then what's your problem with her. Just tell me. If you have a legitimate reason for not wanting her to come around anymore, then just tell me and I'll stop bringing her around." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. What a friend she is...
"No. Piss off. I don't have to prove myself to you." I could hear the venom drip from Harry's words. I was upset because of what Marina had said moments before but I couldn't help but feel bad for her.
"You know what. Fuck you, Harry. You're such a fucking asshole. What happened to you?" I heard her voice crack and I knew that as soon as the door opened I'd see tears.
Just as I grabbed a hold of the door handle to confront the asshole standing in the hall, Marina swung the door open. I jumped back so I didn't get hit.
"Oh. Addie, sorr-" Marina started to apologize; I could see the tears beginning to brim her eyes, threatening to fall, confirming my prediction was correct. He had made her cry. Harry tried following Marina into our room. As soon as my eyes found the lanky man, I laid into him.
"What the hell is wrong with you, you fucking asshole?! She's your friend! For some unknown reason, Marina actually cares about you and wants to help you." Harry stared at me, wide eyed with his mouth open, clearly trying to form words but none would fall past the boundary of his unusually red lips. "Answer me, Harry. You seemed to have had more than enough words at your dispense back in the hall, with both me and Marina. I don't know what your problem with me is but I'm about sick of it. I tried being nice to you. I tried to apologize to you in the hall this morning after we ran in to each other but you took off. I tried to follow you out of Sociology this morning so I could actually finish the apology but you were out of the classroom before I could even stand up. You actually had the nerve to follow me out of the café and accuse me of stalking you. Then you come here, looking for Marina and end up making fun of me. And finally, just when I thought I had gotten rid of the pain in my ass that you are you end up coming back only this time you have the audacity to tell my friend to "piss off" when you're standing outside our dorm room. I don't think so, Harry. I am done with you and all of your bullshit. Get out of my room." Harry didn't say one word or move during my entire speech and afterwards he just stood there like he didn't understand my plain English.
"Did you not hear me? I said get the fuck out. Now." I had quit yelling. He had me so pissed off that I was speaking though my gritted teeth. He finally came back to reality and started to walk towards the door. After entering the hall he turned back around and looked at Marina.
