Harry
Addie stirred in her sleep as the sound of the front door clicking open echoed throughout the house. Soft voices filled the silence and my arms instinctively tightened around the girl lying on my chest. My eyes snapped open and my body went into full alert. I released the breath I didn't even realize I was holding when Zayn's voice boomed though the house.
"What the fuck?"
I chuckled. He had clearly found the broken pieces of the banister. Zayn walked into the living room, holding the two slim pieces of white wood in one hand.
"What the hell did you do?" Zayn spat, his voice full of anger. I couldn't help but smirk.
"You shouldn't have left us locked up like animals," I seethed, but I kept my voice calm and steady. Raising my voice wouldn't do anything but wake the sleeping beauty on my chest. She looked so peaceful and content, so waking her was the absolute last thing I wanted.
"I didn't do it," Zayn howled, "I didn't do anything!"
"Exactly," I mused, "you didn't do anything - including trying to stop Louis from locking us to those damn steps."
"I wasn't in on it! I had no clue what was going on," Zayn defended.
"What did Marina whisper in your ear then?" I questioned. Holding a conversation -- well, more argument - while lying down was awkward but I didn't know when I would get to lay with Addie like this again and I didn't want to waste the chance.
"She just told me to do what Louis said," Zayn conceded.
"You still could have done something to stop it," I snapped. I may have been happy about the outcome but I sure as hell wasn't happy with the way Louis went about getting it.
"What was I supposed to do?" Zayn questioned, his voice getting louder with each word that passed his lips. "You know how Louis is when he sets his mind on something. He's so damn stubborn that there's no changing his mind."
"Yeah, well, when his stubbornness starts interfering with my life--"
"My stubbornness is why the girl you love is fast asleep on your chest right now so there's really no need to complain," Louis interrupted, as he walked into the room and stood next to Zayn. He crossed his arms over his chest and a proud look splayed itself across his face. I couldn't help but want to knock it right off.
"I never said I was in love with her," I snapped.
"Dude, you didn't have to. I can see it written across your face, plain as day, every time you look at her," Louis cocked his eyebrows. It seemed like he was making a point to piss me off these past couple of days.
"Unlock these fucking things now so I can kill you," I growled at Louis and thrust my arm into the air. Addie's arm shot up with mine and jostled her slightly. Luckily, she didn't wake; she just squirmed and nestled her face deeper into my neck. I had more than a few words to share with Louis and I wouldn't be able to do it with Addie lying on my chest. I had to somehow get up without waking her. Louis chuckled softly, stealing my attention.
"Did I fucking stutter?" I whispered venomously, "I'm not kidding. Get the God damned keys and unlock these fucking cuffs."
"Everything worked out perfectly," Louis shrugged, "I don't see why you're so pissed about it."
"Yeah, things did work themselves out in my favor. But still, it was none of your damn business. You need to back the hell off and let things unfold on their own," I fumed, "You can't go around playing God in other people's lives." I met Louis' eyes, hoping he could see every ounce of hatred I felt for him in that moment. His eyes traveled from mine to rest on Addie who clung to me in her sleep.
