Chapter 1
It was the year 2017, our graduating year. It was an early Tuesday morning, as ordinary as any regular day. I walked into the school, with my kilt at its best, shirt tucked in, and my socks just high enough so that you could see the tip of my knee. I passed friends in the hall and headed to our home room to gather important papers.
The teacher passed out two forms. One for flu shots and one for a field trip to the museum, no big deal. With each form she passed out, she gave each student a spiking glare as we carried on with our daily routine of virtually nothing, just waiting for the bell to ring. As we all read our books, fiddled with our pens, and looked pain-stakeingly at the clock waiting for the next minute to go by, it felt like eternity.
A loud staticy voice peered from the PA system.
We all listened as a loud voice said, “Good morning ladies, today we have a very big announcement,” after those words, I really just tuned everything out, usually those words ended in, we won the soccer championships, or we have a poetry contest coming up.
After a couple more words, I started to get more intrigued.
The loud unknown voice continued, “The board of education is announcing ban over all of the all-girls and boys schools across Ontario, as a result, starting next week, we will be merging with Saint Andrews Collage and will remain that way permanently.”
I was shocked, my heart was pounding harder and faster than ever, as if a lightning bolt as just shot through me. I should have known this day would come. Why didn’t I see it coming?
Trafalgar Castle School was officially becoming…co-ed.
