Chapter 13

“Good morning class…Ms.Morgan looking as bright as ever.” Mr.Huntswood said as he glanced at Keady. She rolled her eyes. It was the first day back at school since the shooting and things were tense enough, but know he had to single Keady out.

“Ooooh! Five words for you…Keady’s got a boy toy!” Hannah said as she winked at Keady.

“Five words for you…you need to get laid.” Keady said harshly. I didn’t bother to do anything about it. Frankly I would be worried if she didn’t say anything along the lines of “go get laid” or “go suck a dick you slut.”

Anyways, we all sat in our assigned seats, Keady in the front row and Reece and I behind her. I’m pretty sure Mr.Huntswood put Keady there for a reason, but that’s not important. He went on and lectured us about “The Earth-Shattering World of Shakespeare.” He seemed to be so into it, but all everyone else heard was blah blah blah blah blah. What did Keady see in him again?

I looked around the room and glanced at the empty seat beside me. Bree. So much has happened lately I’ve completely forgotten about her. What was I going to do? I mean, Nick already got arrested for shooting in the school…and there’s really no proof that he had anything to do with Bree’s disappearance. But there’s still something that doesn’t make sense to me. The gunshots occurred while Nick was talking to us, someone else would’ve shot the first bullets.  But who? He didn’t really have any close friends that would do such a thing. The thought instantly slipped my mind when Mr.Huntswood spoke loudly.

“Mr. Reynolds, I assume that you will be making up this late assignment in classroom clean-up duty? I’ll see you today at 3:30.” He said as he singled out the dumbest kid in our class. I saw everyone turning in his or her essays, and so I grabbed mine out of my purple backpack, and placed it on his wooden desk. I as I walked by, an item on the mahogany desk caught my attention. A kilt pin, but not just any kilt pin. I had 3 beads on it, two pink beads, and one with the letter “B” on it. I had given it to Bree for her birthday. She was always complaining about how you couldn’t express yourself through the uniforms, so this was a way of making it her own. Why would Mr.Huntswood have Bree’s kilt pin? I nudged Keady as she walked by, and I acknowledged the kilt pin on the desk.

“Why would he have Bree’s kilt pin?” Reece asked after Keady and I explained to her what we had seen.

“Well, I’m not sure why exactly but he definitely knows where she is, and intend on finding out where.” I said as I stormed down the hallways.

“How are we going to do that? We can’t just storm into his house and ask him where Bree is.” Reece said as she caught up with me.

“You’re right,” I said as I stopped. “We can’t, but you can.” I said as I pointed at Keady.

“Excuse you bitch?” Keady said with an attitude.

“I mean Reece and I, his students, can’t walk in to his house and just talk to him. But you, his girlfriend, can.” I said as I continued to walk.

“Whoa, back the truck up. There’s no way in hell I’m doing that.” Keady said as she pulled me back.

“Listen, do you want to find Bree or not?” I asked intimidatingly.

“Ugh, fine…but I better get some cookies when I’m done.” She said in a very childish tone.

“Done.” I said with a grin as I shook her hand.
