Chapter 6
“Are you sure this doesn’t look weird on me?” Reece asked as she looked at herself in the mirror.
“Yea, you look fine, why do you care so much anyways?” Keady asked.
“Because we’re going to a party and lots of people will be there. I don’t want to be looking like a slob.” Reece said defensively.
We looked at ourselves in the mirror, took a few pictures, and then headed out to the party. We hopped into Reece’s pink Mercedes convertible and drove to Nick’s house. We knew we were close when we heard music blaring and people laughing and screaming. We drove into the driveway and saw Katie and Hannah as they greeted people walking through the door. They were like the popular kids in our school, but not the stereotypical popular girls who only care about themselves and treat everyone else like crap. They were in fact, two of the nicest people that you could ever meet. Katie was caring and witty, and Hannah was funny and sincere. We walked up to them and said hello. Soon after, we walked into the party. The room was dark and full of people laughing, singing, dancing, drinking, making out, and grinding…but that didn’t bother us. We weren’t there to have fun. We were there to protect Bree, without her knowing of course. I knew that me meddling would get me in trouble eventually, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.
Reece and I turned around and she was gone. We lost Keady in a matter of 3 seconds, that’s got to be some sort of record. We decided that she would be okay on her own, and so we discretely walked through the house hoping that Bree wouldn’t see us. After 45 minutes, we caught sight of Bree and Nick as they were heading upstairs. We followed close behind them and when we got to the top of the stairs, we saw the guest room door close, and heard Bree laugh. I went to open the door, but it was locked. I looked through the key hole as Reece’s face went pale. She closed her eyes and took a deep breathe in, almost as if she was about to witness a dead body. She stepped towards the door and put her ear to the door. She heard them talking about some locket and how he wanted her to have it. All I saw was Nick putting the necklace on Bree, and then they kissed. That was it. Really? We went through all of this trouble, to see that all Nick wanted to do was give her a necklace? Not that I was disappointed, I mean at least Nick didn’t go all crazy on Bree.
Reece and I headed back down the stairs to find Keady. We looked in the kitchen…she wasn’t there. The living room...nope. The basement…nope. The front yard…nope. The car…nope. Where could she be? Suddenly we heard a song that could barely be heard over the loud rap music. We followed it, all the way to the backyard.
It was so dark that we couldn’t see a thing. Reece turned on the flashlight on her phone, and Keady was there, standing on a green inflatable raft in the middle of the pool.
“My pussy tastes like pepsi cola! My eyes are wide like cherry pies. I gots a taste for men who’re older, it’s always been so it’s no surprise.” Keady sang, well, more like screamed.
She wore a pink leopard print bra and a pink polka-dotted thong. Our jaws dropped at the sight of her half naked, at 1 in the morning in the pool. But we couldn’t help but laugh, I mean come on, who didn’t see it coming. Reece and I looked at each other with the same thought in mind. Bree was safe and we had nothing but time. At last, we decided to join Keady and have some fun. We ripped off our dresses and jumped into the pool.
60 bottles of beer later, we were all about to hit the wall. Keady was so drunk that she was convinced that she was swimming in her own vagina, Reece thought there was a Scottish man kicking her in the uterus repeatedly (which was just a result of drinking too much beer), and I thought the pool noodle was a 3 foot long dick, I swear I swallowed a piece of Styrofoam in the process. Anyways it was a good night. We all slept on the floating raft for about two hours. It probably looked like something out of a porn film, but we didn’t care. When the music stopped, Keady woke up. Everyone was half way out of the door and we were sleeping in the pool. She woke Reece and I up and told us that the party had ended.
