Voices again. the same two that woke me from my last sleep. Lily and Aristotle fought more than an old married couple and I couldn't help but wonder if they had a secret past. I turned over to get out of bed but I was still too tired to deal with whatever drama they were going to deal me. Five more minutes I begged myself. I tried to listen to what they were saying but all I could hear were mumbles.

fine, I groaned as I got to my feet. I was already dressed so I headed to the living room after patting down my bedhead.

"oh, good your awake." Lily rushed to my side.

"Leave her alone Lily or I swear by the black mark." Aristotle growled

this was definitely more drama than I had expected.

"come on Ari, we will have to do it sooner rather than later and now is the time." she begged.

"um, I am standing right here you guys. what's going on?" I asked looking towards Lily. she was more likely to be honest with me.

"We want to introduce you to a certain clan, a loyal clan." She spit the words out so fast as to avoid Aristotle from interrupting her.

"what? Isn't that dangerous?" I continued to gaze at her.

"Exactly! we do not have any idea if they are really loyal or this could be some kind of trick orchestrated by Valak." Aristotle reached and grabbed my arm, pulling me away from Lily's side.

"Its not a trick, for gods sake Ari! I know one of the Vamps personally, we can trust them!" She protested.

"I am her protector, we need her alive and well. I think we should just rally the forces ourselves while she stays hidden here." he suggested.

"And do you think for one second that you can rally a fucking army based on your word alone? their going to want proof, even your not that stupid." she spat

The look on his face showed that he knew she was right. I moved my arm from his tight grasp and stood in between them.

"Did either of you ever stop and think what I want to do?" I turned my head so I could look at both of them.

they starred at me like some dummy.

"well, I do want to meet these vamps, you said you could protect me Aristotle so prove it." I shrugged my shoulders towards him. I didn't even know if I really wanted to meet more vampires but I wanted out of this penthouse and I needed to know more about my future.

"No." He growled between his teeth.

"you are not ready, and I wont risk it. if anything happens to you, I ..." His words stopped as he starred lost in my eyes, as if he was searching for the words written on my face.

I could feel it right than. the bond. it was wrapping itself around me reaching for him, I needed to feel his embrace. I could no longer deny the connection we had at this point. I need to be near him, I felt... safe with just his presence.

I took a step closer to him, and to my shock he took a step back. why did he do that?

"I can feel our bond becoming stronger Natalia, but until your ready I need you to stay here. please. promise me you will listen to me and stay put.?" he begged me with those deep blue eyes and there was nothing I could say but "yes" I nodded.

Lily threw her hands up in defeat and stomped towards the elevator.

"No fucking way I can win with you two, sharing a bond." she mumbled and hit the button to go down.

Aristotle took a step closer.

"All I want is what's best for you Nat, I will protect you with my life. I am at your call until the day I die and I will find a way to rally your army without putting you in danger. Just give me a few more days." he grabbed my hand ....and it was over.

my heart was beating right out of my chest and giving the smile that was spread across his face I knew he could hear it. I don't know why but I believed every word he said and I trusted this stranger with my life. His hand felt like an extension of my own. Somehow it belonged to me and it sent shivers through my already shaken body. A single touch from him could compel me to do anything. I was his just as much as he was mine.

" I will be back in few hours, The fridge is stocked." he said letting go of my hand to follow Lily into the elevator.

I stared into his eyes until the doors closed, stealing away my beautiful view. I started to walk towards the kitchen when I noticed a silver metal piece sticking out from the wall by the elevator.

Shit! I thought. he forgot his key. How was he going to get back up here? Did he have another? he could always poof up like he does I convinced myself and started towards the fridge. I was starving and I couldn't wait to cook up something nice.

I found some chicken in the freezer and decided to fry it up with some veggies. I was almost done cooking when I glanced back over at the key in the wall. I could literally leave right now if I wanted to. I promised Aristotle that I would stay put and that's what I was going to do.

I ate up everything that I cooked and did the dishes. It had almost been two hours since he left and I was beginning to doubt if he could come back up without the key. Lily hadn't giving me anymore potions to drink and I don't know if the 12 hour mark had past. Was my blood still hidden? it surely wouldn't hurt just to ride the elevator to the main floor right? I could just go down real quick and see if Aristotle was waiting to come back up. He would probably thank me for thinking about the key and letting him in. It would take me a total of 2 minutes and I would be safe in the elevator. If he wasn't down there I would come right back up, I convinced myself.

I walked over to the key and turned it as I pressed the down button. I removed the key and slid it into my tan slacks. The elevator came in seconds and I stepped inside. what floor was the main lobby? I wasn't paying attention before when we entered. There was a little star next to the 10th floor so I hit the button without thinking twice. We were on the 36th floor and that's as high as it went, the 10th seemed likely because when we entered there were floors beneath us too. Confident in my choice I started to whistle on the way down. The elevator cam to a stop and the doors opened. If my heart was beating loud before, than it surely was going crazy now. As soon as I looked up, I realized my mistake. The entire room was filled with what I could only guess where vampires.

My eyes starred in horror as I took in my surroundings. my hand wanted to reach for another button but my body was frozen in fear. I have never been to this room but I knew exactly where I was. My eyes settled on a Handsome older man sitting on a chair at the top of the room. His eyes were piercing through me and my body felt cold. His tall form stood out from the others, and dominance screamed from him as he stood from his throne. I had just walked in on a meeting in the throne room and was now staring King Aaron in the face.
