Relax

The helicopter took a sharp right turn and headed for one of the five giant mountains circling the lake. As we got near I noticed a small landing pad and assumed that's where we were landing. Beside me Lily was digging in her purse furiously looking for something.

"AH ha," she said as she pulled out a vile containing some red liquid inside.

"Here Nat, you need to drink this. It will disguise your sent so no one will know who you are. Your royal blood is like a siren call for us vamps and we can't expose you just yet my dear." She explained.

"Is that blood? No fucking way." I protested

"Ha silly girl, no it is a potion that I made; I told you I am first a witch than a vampire." She smirked and handed me the vile.

I took it from her and screwed the cap off, it smelled like dead fish and there was no way I would be able to hold it down. Lily could sense my hesitation and gave me a firm grin like a mother forcing her child to take cough syrup.

"This will only last about 12 hours, you will need to take one every day until the time is right. It is for your safety, I promise." She pushed the vile to my lips.

In one fast motion I drank its contents, squeezing my nose so I wouldn't taste it. It didn't work and I almost threw it back up but forced it down.

Aristotle looked from his spot in the front seat with a huge grin, he obviously enjoyed watching me suffer, some protector he was I thought and glared back at him, causing him to laugh a little out loud.

The helicopter landing was not as gentle as it had been in the field and I found myself holding on to lily's small frame to keep balanced. The engine cut off and the doors opened. This was it, I was now in the vampire kingdom and I have no idea what to expect. My nerves started taking over as I thought about the potion. What if it doesn't work? What if someone smells me and I die? Could Aristotle really protect me? I had no choice but to put my faith in his hands.

"Stay close." He said as he shoved me behind him and in front of Lily. I was walking in the middle of them and that made me relax a little more.

Two giant wooden doors where on the side of landing pad and before we even reached them; they opened in unison blasting a breeze of warm air in my face. As we stepped inside I noticed that this wasn't a mountain at all, but some kind of fortress, castle. The mountains were a front, hiding a beautiful masterpiece within. My eyes took in the marvel. The ceilings where as high as the mountain itself. The floor was pure white marble and was cold beneath my bare feet. The walls where lined with portraits that dated back to the 1820's. In the center was the biggest stairwell I have ever seen. It seemed to reach the heavens as it towered above us. We must of entered somewhere in the middle because the hall was circular, wrapped around the stairwell. There were dozens of doors branching off down hallways. I glanced over the railing and saw that the stairwell was even larger reaching down a few more floors. This place was enormous and I didn't see how anyone could navigate their way around.

We took a door through another hallway and at the end I noticed an elevator. Thank god I thought, no way I wanted to climb a mountain, literally. I followed Aristotle into the small encloser and I noticed Lily stopping outside the door.

"I'll catch up with you later Nat, I need a few things to continue the potion." She whispered,

I nodded, and watched the doors close. This was the first time I was alone with Aristotle since I've met Lily, she had a way of making me feel calm, and He did not.  He pulled a small key from his jacket pocket and stuck it into the key hole by the top button, he pressed the button and turned the key at the same time and the elevator started moving. We stood in silence. When the doors opened I realized we were at some kind of pent house because as soon as we stepped out we were standing in a living room. Again the floor was made of white marble shinning so bright I could almost see my reflection in its surface. The walls were dark red and the windows hung on both sides from ceiling to floor dapped with black curtains. There were two large couches facing each other in the room with giant white pillows poised perfectly on each side. I just wanted to run and flop onto the couch, I was exhausted and I wanted to sleep, but not as bad as I wanted to shower.

"Where is the bathroom? I really need to shower please." I looked towards Aristotle.

"I will show you your quarters. There are two master bedrooms in this apartment and each bedroom has their own bathroom. One bedroom is mine and the other is yours for now. I will have a maid stock the fridge for you and get you clothes so you can shower." He ushered me to follow him.

We passed a gorgeous looking kitchen mad entirely of stainless steel, there was no wall separating it from the living room but a solid bar that wrapped around the kitchen with four bar stools. I didn't really know how to cook but the kitchen was something I diffidently wanted to try out. We passed a small hallway with a black door at the end; I'm guessing that was his room because we continued further down the corridor. At the other end was a smaller white door and he gestured for me to enter. He didn't follow but instead closed the door behind me, and left me alone. The room was radiant. Unlike the other floors this was made of beige, soft carpet and my bare feet welcomed the embrace. The walls where white and the windows were the same, reaching from the ceiling to the floor. There were two windows side by side separated by a small sliding glass door. Purple drapes spilled from the windows onto the floor as I walked towards the door. I unlocked the latch and slid the door open. It was a balcony with the most astonishing view. I was right; we were in a pent house because I was in the clouds. There was nothing above me and the world below me. The same purple light was faint outside but I could see the glimmering waters of the lake below. I had the perfect view of the other four mountains and I wondered if they too hid a fortress inside.

The breeze was making me shiver so I decided to scope out my new bedroom and find the bathroom.  The bed was in the center of the room, it was an old fashion bed with a canopy and white sheets and blankets, large red pillows were calling my name. I had to shower first. There were only two other doors in the room I hadn't opened yet so I walked over to one and pulled the handle. Not the bathroom but a huge walk in closet.... And do my dismay it was completely empty. I shut the door and opened the next. Finally the bathroom.  There was huge marble tub in the center of the room, fit for a queen. No pun intended.  On the side of the wall was a tile stand up shower and a red sofa. There were flowers in huge vases on the counter by the sink and toilet. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would have a bathroom like this. I quickly walked over to the tub and ran the water, a bath sounded so much better right now.  As the water filled up I took off my mother's dirty dressed and placed in in the hamper by the door, I would have to find a washing machine after. I grabbed a towel from the rack on the wall and wrapped it around me as I waited. I opened the draws and found all kinds of toiletries. Unlike my closet, the bathroom was well stocked with everything a young woman needed. I dropped the towel to the floor and eased into the steaming water. Never has anything ever felt so good. I submerged myself under and embraced the warm water. I used some small shampoo bottles I found and washed my matted hair. I stayed in the bath until my fingers looked like prunes and decided I could continue my relaxation to my comfy bed. I grabbed my towel and dried off, and headed for bed.  When I stepped out of the bathroom I noticed a small neatly folded pair of clothes on my bed. I hadn't even heard anyone enter my room. The maid must of brought them by I thought. It wasn't my usual style of clothes but they fit almost perfectly. I would have preferred jeans but the nice tan slacks made me feel sophisticated. I had a matching tan button up blouse with little ruffles at the sleeve, a clean pair of underwear and bra. These weren't sleeping close so I decided to go ask Aristotle if he needed me before I passed out.

I opened my door to the small corridor and made my way to the living room. It was empty like and so was the kitchen. I didn't dare knock on the black door and the only way out was through the elevator we used to get here and that required a key. Great I thought. I'm a prisoner again. I didn't care, I was too tired to mop around, I walked back to my room and before my head hit the pillow I was already asleep.
