Chapter 4

Kaidens p.o.v

I open an eyelid. Strawberry scented hair invaded my nostrils as I took in a deep breath. Beverly was so breathtakingly beautiful.

So is kalani.

I snarl at my subconscious. I shouldn't be having thoughts like that of my bestfriend. Especially when I had a girlfriend. Heck, she was in my arms naked. I should be thinking about how smooth and curvy she is, but I wasn't. I lift a hand slowly off her hip and began to back away. Careful not to wake her.

I pull on a pair of underwear and slip out of the door. I stretch and yawn and began walking down to the kitchen when a shadow catches the corner of my eye. Without much thought I hide behind a corner and peek around. Chris comes into view clearly up to no good. He glanced around finally finding what he was looking for. He entered a room and locked it behind him.

What the hell? What's Chris doing snooping around? Not to mention,snooping around in MY office.

I soundlessly tip toe in front of the door and peek through the key hole.

Son of a bitch is going through my files.

Anger begins to seep into my bones as I realize exactly what files he was going through. He was going through the mansions floor plans, old plots used for war, plots to be used for future wars, guard schedules, and so on.

I suddenly hear a click down the hallway and my head snaps right in a unnatural way. I stuck my nose in the air.

Human.

At about the same time the door unlocks and swings open.

"Chris?" A feminine voice says.

I peek around the corner; heart racing. Thank God for super speed.

"Kalani? What are you doing out of bed?"

"I was going to the kitchen for a glass of water, but I think I'm a little lost," Chris swiftly avoids her questioning gaze for him being there.

"Ah, let me take you then."

"Okay,"she goes along with it.

I glare as they walk away and quickly flipped out my phone while crouched down in the hallway.

"Jason. I need you to bring in my personal clairvoyant first thing in the morning,"I hang up no questions asked.

I paced the room with my hands carefully clasped behind my back. The old clairvoyant looked bored as she watched me from the sofa.

I slow down a bit and turn towards her as I spoke low and slowly, "so you mean to tell me," i picked up a nearby vase and examined it,"that Chris is planning to start a war with me?!?!" I throw the vase at the wall. Barley missing her head. She sat still, not even flinching. Clearly use to my temper, but the slight quickened pace of her heart did not go unnoticed.

"That is what I said. Kaiden-" she stops with her mouth agar and eyes slightly widening.

"What is it Tiresias?" I watch her carefully.

"It can't be," She mumbled.

"Damn woman. Your crazier than I thought."

She pointed at the door,"the girl. Let her in."

In a blink of an eye I open the door. Only to have kalani fall face first into the room.

"Eavesdropping much?"she glared at me and quickly got up; brushing off the imaginary dirt from her pants.

"Young lady come here,"kalani slowly lifted up her head. Her blue eyes shown more amethyst than normal. I chuckled as I listened in to the pattern of her heart. It was pounding against her chest. She walked towards the lady unsure what to do and glanced back at me. Something she often did to reassure herself I'm there for her. The clairvoyant aggressively grabbed her hands and kalani squeaked.

I snarled at her,"don't worry Mr. Sinclair. I will not harm her,"she smirked at the use of my last name. Testing me.

She then closed her eyes and looked up with kalani's hands still in hers.

She breathed in,"wow,"and opened her eyes.

"What is your name?"

"K-Kalani."

"Listen carefully. God has big plans for you. Ah, and kaiden,"I blink.

"She will be a major puzzle peice in winning the war,"she hints.

I go in full king mode,"kalani, come. We are leaving."

"But-"

"Now,"I say with authority. Her eyes slightly widen. Never seeing this side of me before.

I see a few maids walking by in the hallway.

"You. Gather the warriors. Gather anyone and everyone who is important. We are having a meeting in the dining room,"she scrambled away mumbling 'yes, my king'.

Little faint footsteps echo behind me.

"Kaiden wait up,"I glance back at her.

"Kalani I'm busy. Please do hurry up,"she huffs and catches up with me barley on my tail.

"What's going on?"

"A war is coming. You must be prepared. I must be prepared,"she bites her lip.

"With who?"I suddenly halt and kalani runs into me.

I turn on my heel and she blushes.

I become very serious,"with King elton, also known to you as Chris."

"Then why must I be prepared? I don't want anything to do with this kaiden! I-I love him."

My eyes widen. Shocked at her confession before I compose myself,"I know, but you heard the old bat! Your a major puzzle peice in winning the war! You don't have a choice!"

"No kaiden. YOU don't have a choice, but I do. Im not interfering,"with that she sashayed down the hallway.

I groaned and dragged a hand down my face.

Why must she be so difficult?
