Kaidens p.o.v

Kalani and i stood side by side on the battlefield. Something I had originally never wanted for her, but it was her fate. My eyes quickly glanced at her as she visibly readied herself.

I will always be here for you.

I mentally told her.

I looked around the battlefield. My men stood behind us prepared to fight as some hid into the woods.

Kalani seemed to be reading my mind because she looked at me and said,"don't worry, we are prepared kaiden."

I nod.

I barred my fangs when I heard a snap in the woods.

Chris and his own men stepped on out.

"Nice to see you again kaiden."

"I wish I could say the same Chris."

He chuckled,"it really is sad to see your bringing kalani into all of this. You must really be desperate right now. Using anything to save your ass."

"You know good and well why I'm here Chris," kalani spoke up.

His eyes flicked to her small frame covered with heavy metals as protection,"and why is that? Was it because you were to naive and ignorant to realize I was using you from the start? You were the perfect plan kalani. The perfect distraction."

Kalani growled in an unhuman way. My head twisted to her direction. I've never heard her do that before.

"I'm going to kill you by time this is all over. Watch me," she spat out with so much poison and distaste it burnt the air.

"I'd like to see you try," kalani had had enough. She clicked the button on her hip and the whole field erupted with explosives one after the other. A few were caught in the trap while a few flee. Chris just glanced around with shock as the smoke and dust surrounded him as we lost a visual on the enemy.

Shit.

I motioned my men to run forward and to fight the enemy as men began to charge at us from out of the smoke. In the distance I could hear arrows spewing about from the woods. Assumably the centaurs taking out those who fled.

Cowards.

I watched in slight horror as kalani swung her sword about with a warrior's skill. Killing without regret. My eyes never left her form with every man I too killed. I was frightened she would slip up but she fought in a way that seemed so natural to her.

She was born to do this. My subconscious suggested.

And for the first time since the war began. My eyes left her. Full confidence and pride in my beautiful flower.

Chris p.o.v.

My surroundings blurred around me as I stood there dumbfounded.

No. No. This cant be happening! I saw every possible plan! How could I falter? I can't lose! I will lose EVERYTHING if we do not win.

My heart began to beat uncontrollably at the possibility of losing. Suddenly I am knocked back into the present when a feminine grunt fills my ears and kalani began slaying my last warriors.

I have to stop this.

Just as she pulled her sword out of the lifeless body I gripped her throat and pointed the sword towards her abdomen.

"Halt!" I yelled so loud everyone stopped what they were doing and watched me. Many watched with horror as a few watched with curiosity. Kaiden ran to the scene. Ready to attack.

I gripped her throat tighter and she squeaked as i pressed the sword onto her skin.

Kalani's p.o.v.

I watched kaiden freeze in his steps as a sound involuntarily escaped my lips. My eyes screamed helped as kaiden and I stared at each other.

"Let her go Chris!" He yelled with ferocity.

"We can stop all this petty bullshit as soon as you claim defeat kaiden. Then, I'll give her back to you."

"Why should I believe you."

"You have my word."

No, kaiden. Dont do it. We have worked way too hard for this.

That's when I realized. I had to do something. Tears filled my eyes.

"Kaiden," I croaked, "I love you," and that's when I grabbed the handle of the sword and with a battle cry the silver pierced through me and through Chris.

The world turned black and it spinned as I hit something soft.

A faint voice screamed no in the background.

Goodbye kaiden.
