Chapter 11

Kaidens P.O.V.

I sat in the chair beside kalani's bed. The past few days have all been a blur. She was stupid for killing herself along with Chris. We could have figured it out. Somehow, but even I knew that was hopeless. After her lifeless body hit the ground with a thump I found myself screaming for her. I selfishly bit her neck and dripped my blood into her mouth not ready to loose her. For the first time I found myself mumbling I love you too when she confessed her feelings for me. Im not really sure when this happened, but it did. I have waited many years for someone like kalani and when I finally realize it she is taken away from me. I have failed myself and I have failed her. Normally when someone is turned into a vampire they wake within a few hours. It's been three days and no sign of life. Many vampires have came to check upon me. They always give me the same pitiful look almost knowing there was no hope for her. I refused to believe it. Kalani is way too strong. She will come back. In time.

Two hands suddenly wrap around my shoulders and lightly massage my neck and shoulders.

"Kaiden, baby, I'm beginning to worry about you," I roll eyes and stand up. Trying to get away from Beverly.

I could imagine her frowning.

"She's going to wake up,"I told her.

I hear some fumbling and the clinking of glass.

I turn around. Beverly stood in front of me and grinned toothily. Shoving a glass into my hands.

"Drink with me," I reluctantly take the glass and down it.

I've Been drinking nonstop. I haven't even taken the time to take a shower or shave.

With a huff I push my hair back and wince. A migraine began and I held my head.

"Are you okay baby?"

"Don't call me that," I groan and began to stumble when the pain left for my stomach. It felt as if a car hit me.

Beverly pushed me and I fell to the ground. Weak and unable to do anything about it.

"You bitch, you poisoned me,"she laughed manically.

"Your almost as naive as the girl kaiden. I'm starting to think you've lost your touch ever since she came along,"she straddled me.

"This war was never about 'finishing what Chris's parents started' it was about taking over your kingdom!"

I must have looked confused because she rolled her eyes,"if Chris had control over both of the most powerful kingdoms he would be able to take over the world and his dreams of enslaving the human race would fall right into his arms. Vampires would fear him. Fear us,"she grinned," afterall, every king needs his queen,"that's when it clicked.

"Your the one who's been working with Chris all this time. Your the one kalani got all upset over when she found out Chris was cheating."

"Bingo,"she winked at me," I'm really suprised you haven't found out earlier but like Chris said. Kalani was the perfect distraction and for that reason. You will die because of her,"she lifted a knife from her hip and into the air. Her hands came swinging down and i closed my eyes.

Perhaps I will be with kalani now.

The silver never came down and that's when I peeked one eye open. Beverly sat froze. The tip of the knife barely touching my chest. However, a spot of blood stained my shirt. My eyebrows arched in confusion as I looked back at Beverly. Blood dripped from her lips and a silver and gold dagger impaled her chest. When she fell to the side relief and joy along with tears sprang to my eyes. Kalani came running to me and pulled me into her hair with no effort. It had worked. I smiled. With my last bit of strength I hugged her back weakly.

"I love you too kalani," she giggled and pulled back to look at me and before she could say how am I alive right now?

I gasped.

Her smile left her face,"what?"

"Your eyes. They're yellow," I watched in horror.

She can't be. She's the previxen?
