Just A Regular Day

The alarm sounds on my phone at 7:00 in the morning telling me to get ready for school. I take a shower, put on my clothes, and head towards the kitchen. I was wearing my light green striped shirt with some comfortable black pants.

I ate some cereal, got my things ready in my backpack, and started to walk to school. By the time I got there, my two best friends Lizzie and Meagan were already at the cafeteria table talking with some of my other friends. "Hey Savannah! Ready for a full day of fun?" Meagan asked me full of excitement. I smiled and nodded, " Yeah! A whole day where we get to play outside in the schoolyard! " As I sat down, Lizzie came close to Meagan and I to tell us something. "I heard that there is going to be some type of project that is going to be shown to the grade. I'm not sure what it is though." She said. "Hm, maybe just a presentation about what to do to get ready for Junior High." I said, the other two nodded.

"Whatever it is, let's get it over with quickly so we can go play! " Meagan exclaimed and we all laughed. "Agreed," I said still chuckling. In a few minutes the bell was going to ring, telling us that it was time to get to class. I put on my backpack and the three of us headed our different ways to our lockers.

~~Class~~

Our teacher, Mrs.Green, was leading our class to the schoolyard to see a presentation. I was completely certain that this was what Lizzie was talking about this morning. Automatically both Meagan and I took seats on the concrete next to her.

"Hello class!" The energetic woman in a lab coat said. Everyone mumbled a hello, the woman didn't seem to mind the lack in attention and continued on. "Today I have something you show you all, " she gestured to a huge, wide screen that projected landscapes that looked so real but we haven't heard of before. "This is a virtual reality world, it is programmed to transfer your body into this world so you can play a type of game. Anyone interested? " The woman seemed to have caught everyone's eye when she said virtual reality.

Nobody in the world has made this type of technology before. Which made me wonder how in the world did this woman create it? As I thought in my head, all hands were raised once she asked who was interested. She was hushing everyone to calm down, " Just to make it fair, I will draw seven sticks to determine who gets to go into the game." I gulped, the woman hadn't explained what we were going to do in this virtual reality world. What if it was something that included what I hated to do? I looked at my friends, they seemed just as excited as the class, looking so eager to get into the game. Was I the only one questioning this presentation?

As she pulled out the first name my heart skipped a beat;

" Gabe, " she said, the boy walked forward breezily, not showing his reaction to being called but gave a small smile. He had light brown hair and was the most athletic boy in the grade.

The woman then called another name;

" Christopher, " The dark haired boy sped forward, looking pretty happy to be called. He was a fast runner, even faster than Gabe, and was one of my rivals in mathematics.

The woman then called out two other names;

" Oh! Both with the same names, Jason N. And Jason T." The two stepped forward one before the other. They were both friends with each other, Jason T. being one of my playing buddies at recess. He had light brown hair like Gabe's and was one of the most popular kids in the entire school. Jason N. had dark hair like Christopher's and was reasonably short.

As the woman chose three more sticks, I was thinking it would possibly be at least one girl since everyone who was already chosen were boys. I forgot to hope it wasn't me until she called out names I did not think I wanted to hear.

" Savannah, Lizzie, and Meagan." As Meagan and Lizzie stepped forward, I hesitated for a moment before following behind.

As all the people called from the sticks lined up, the woman said to all of us, "Tomorrow you will be brought into the virtual reality world and I will explain what I want you to do. For the rest of today, you will continue on regularly with your day, and rest up tonight for tomorrow! " I looked at the woman for a brief moment and saw a faint glimmer in her eye and I started to wonder to myself if this really wasn't just a coincidence. Having my friends, and crushes in the same activity.

What if I caused this?
