I woke up in surprise. I could save my friends? They hadn't died completely yet? The thought gave me new hope.
The game maker said go back in time to where it all began. Where it all began...I gasped. She meant the first place we ever came to this virtual world. It was where we got our new names.
I looked back at the foggy mountains, now spookier than ever to my point of view. This meant to get my friends back I'd have to go through that entire journey we went through. By myself.
"Oh no." I said to myself. I don't know if I can do it alone! A part of me thought. But I'll have to...I need to save my friends, I owe them this. Taking in a deep breath, I started packing for my long journey.
----------
The sun was just rising by the time I was ready. One step at a time I went back to the mountains. Every single step was an effort. Every move towards those mountains reminded me of the horrors it held.
Those mountains meant bad news, but it was the only way to go save my friends. As soon as my feet touched the cold, rocky ground and I started to run. I was running, because I hated every moment that I spent here. Everything that was ever taken away from me happened here, and that doesn't leave a good feeling.
"You'll pay Game Maker." I said, growling. "Mark my words." The trip would take a while, but that didn't matter.
I just wanted to get my friends back.
----------
I stopped at the cave where we first stayed to get away from the leopard. The memories so fresh that it felt like it happened yesterday. I ate some of the food I stored in my backpack and drank some water before getting ready for some sleep. I huddled up in the corner of the cave, hugging my knees and shut my eyes tightly.
I tried to get some rest before the next day, but I just couldn't sleep. My mind was just too alert and shaken to rest, so I just had to keep my eyes closed and hope I could sleep.
It took a while, but I thought I was finally able to sleep. Wake up. My mind was telling me. Wake up, it repeated. Now.
Despite the fact that I was just started to get drowsy, I opened my eyes. "AH!" I screamed as I immediately saw what was at the entrance of the cave.
I summoned the Aquara Sword and slowly stood up. The creature I saw had glowing, sickly green eyes with shining fangs. It looked like a cougar, but with sharper claws and a larger size. It was utterly terrifying.
Immediately, it's eyes met mine.
"What do you want?" I asked wearily at the creature. It should be able to understand me, right? The creature growled with its hackles raised. It unsheathed it's claws and sprang at me. No answers from that.
I reacted quickly and ducked out of the way just in time so the animal would miss me by a hair, crashing into the rock wall. I raised my sword and held it in front of me, the metal shining in the moonlight. I created a water barrier in between the cougar and I for protection.
The creature shook itself, refocusing and hissing at me. It lunged again, but when I thought the water barrier would hold, it broke apart. What? The barrier just immediately fell apart, leaving me vulnerable with only a sword in my hand.
The creature's eyes flashed and it took my surprise to its advantage and pinned me to the ground. I struggled under its weight and glared at the cougar, though what I saw made me freeze.
The cougar's eyes made me see Storm. It was like she was being trapped inside. She was looking frantically around in some type of cage, and she was yelling for someone to get her out.
I yelled, using all of my energy to push away the cougar. I had instinctively used my powers to push it back, and I quickly thrusted my sword through the creature's heart.
Panting, I watched as the cougar's eyes stopped glowing and as it's body disintegrated into pixels. I looked up to the stars, and the message they gave me was simple.
Go now if you want to save your friends. Go now.
It was almost pitch black in the mountains, but the moonlight shined on the way I was supposed to go. It was as if all of the children who had fallen in this game were counting on me to finish this.
They wanted me to give them a happy ending.
I looked at the distance I had to go to reach the end, and strapped the Aquara Sword onto my back. I would go tonight, and I won't stop.
"It's what you wanted." I said, and I started my night journey to the building.
----------
The sun was high in the sky when I stopped at the building. The material it was built from was as dark as a raven's feather, it's presence sending chills to my spine.
The doors that stood before me opened suddenly, like it was just casually waiting for me to arrive, and I stepped inside into the darkness.
With a single sound, the doors shut abruptly behind me, leaving me in still silence. I waited a few moments, and then a light shined, revealing the one person I was looking for.
"Game Maker." I said, not even smiling.
"Leaf, good to see that you've come." She simply said. As soon as she finished speaking, more lights came on, revealing all of my friends.
"Ready to save your friends?"
"I've been ready." I raised my sword and lunged at the game maker, all my surroundings disappearing before me.
