Trapped From A Wish

Nightlight *Extra Chapter*

I was curled up on the bed, surrounded by the peaceful silence around me. I could live as a pet for the rest of my life, as long as I know Gabe is safe.

I then felt the sheet of the bed I was moving, waking me up from my sleep slightly. I opened my eyes a bit and saw Gabe standing in his room, gazing at the moonlight. It's 11 o'clock at night Gabe, you should be sleeping. I silently thought in my head. He walked out of the room, barely making a sound, and I heard the sound of the back door open.

I jumped off of the bed and padded quietly downstairs to find out what Gabe was doing. I sat down at the edge of the window and watched from inside of the house. Gabe stared at the dark sky above him and he bit his lip as if he were in pain. He said something out loud into the night, and strangely I heard it as clear as day.

"Hey, Savannah. If you're anywhere up there, I want to know something. Why did you die for us? I don't know what to do without you. You were so important to us, why did you do it?" The words echoed towards me, being heard in all directions. The words were meant for me.

I blinked and spoke back to him, "I wanted to protect you."

It was the only words I could say before I could only speak cat language, but it was enough. A tear ran down Gabe's cheek and he smiled. It wasn't just a simple smile; it was a smile with the mixed emotions of relief, sadness, happiness, and despair. It meant that he had heard me, and even if he was sad, he was glad I had answered. "Okay," he said, and he stood up to go back inside.

Sudden realization came to me that I was just about to get caught awake at night. I pelted across the stairs as quickly as I could and leaped onto the bed like a caracal. I had just finished making myself look like I was fast asleep when Gabe came through the door into his room.

There was silence, and then I felt a hand gently smooth down my ruffled up fur. "Sweet dreams, Leaf." He said in a whisper, and I curled my tail around his arm in comfort. Sweet dreams...
