We decided to stop at a small cave. It was a pretty decent place to stay in, with no wind blowing into our faces and enough room for everyone to stay. We were all tired and exhausted from the trip and we all seemed to be dragging our feet across the rocky floor.

"Let's all rest here. This isn't a permanent place, but it'll do." Everyone seemed to silently agree and we all made our own places to sleep. I happened to notice that everyone went to sleep next to their house mate, and I slept next to Shrew and Star. I seemed to be most comfortable with them.

"Goodnight Leaf." I heard the familiar voice of Shrew next to me, "Goodnight Shrew. " I said and started to doze off into a deep sleep. I didn't have the best dreams, but at least my friends would sleep peacefully.

"Wake up Leaf! We're about to go hunting!" I heard Sorrel shaking me awake. "Okay." I said groggily, I was still tired after our long trip. Almost everyone was awake by the time I was up and ready. It was just Storm, Star, and Fire who were still sleeping.

"We'll wake them up later, four people are good enough for a hunting group. " Shrew said and we started heading off. "Wait! " Sorrel said, "I'm just going to tell them where we went. " She came back to the rest of our sleepy friends and seemed to form words out of growing plants. When she was finished, it read:

Went hunting, be back in a bit.

Bracken and Shrew seemed surprised Sorrel could do that type of skill with her power. I wasn't really that surprised after reading that book. And almost being swallowed by darkness, my mind reminded me as I cringed at the memory. "Ready to go. " Sorrel said when she was back with us and we headed our way to the windy parts of the mountains.

"Lead the way, Leaf," Shrew said, and I started following my instincts to find any prey. "There could be prey hiding anywhere, so have your weapons ready. " I said. I hadn't realized it yet, but I felt like some part of me has been in the mountains before, "Stay together. There could be any type of creatures around here." Nobody said anything, they didn't question what I knew. I was thankful for that, explaining would take quite a while.

A scraping and skittering sound was heard and before I knew it, Shrew had caught a mouse with an arrow. "Nice catch," I said to him and he nodded. After storing the prey safely in our sack, I heard a screeching sound above. "Take cover!" I said immediately after realizing how enormous the hawk was. It was as large as a horse! With talons that could cause a nasty injury on my friends.

"Oh my gosh! It's huge!!!" Bracken exclaimed as it soared above us. I nodded, "I'm worried if it would take humans away from the ground." Suddenly, as if knowing what I had said, the hawk swopped down and I felt it's wings beat down on the ground creating whooshes of wind.

For a moment I caught the bird's eye. The bird landed staring right back at me with its piercing gaze, it seemed to be waiting for a command. It screeched in front of my face and I backed away in fright. It flapped it's wings at me and it's talons were spread out widely. I didn't want to wait for what it would do, I sent a blast of water in the hawk's direction to put it off track. It squawked, suddenly surprised for a moment that I had gotten it wet, and then it screeched in frustration. I had slipped away from the small space that the hawk trapped me in and had returned to my friends.

"Okay, that was interesting," Sorrel said next to me hidden inside a bush. The hawk had flown away, just forgetting that I had escaped. Bracken was failing to hold back a laugh, "The hawk didn't even know what you were! It was figuring out if you were food or a really strange rodent! " He burst into laughter, and I found myself laughing too, even though I was offended by the hawk.

Once we calmed down Shrew came out of the bushes holding another mouse and two brown birds I didn't know of. "All I could find for now, is it enough?" He asked us. We all nodded, "That'll be good, let's go back now. " We started heading back to the small cave where everyone else were, and heard the hissing of a cat and claws scraping the rocky floor.

Oh no! I thought immediately as our hunting group raced back to the cave. Storm and Fire were fighting together against a mountain lion with unnaturally huge claws, and Star...

I gasped and started heading towards him. He was bleeding really badly from a bite near the shoulder. "Sorrel!!!" I yelled instinctively, she came running over with a worried expression on her face. "Get some cloth to cover the bleeding!" She nodded and came back with a clean piece of cloth and I wrapped it around Star's wound.

"Oh goodness no, please still be awake Star. " I quietly pleaded to Star, who was barely conscious, taking only shallow breaths from the loss of so much blood. I wouldn't let him slip away so easily after just coming, We need water, a full thermos of it, some ointment to heal the wound and stop infection, and bandages. Oh! And also a pillow if we can supply it. As I just thought if what I needed, they appeared right next to me. I said a silent thanks to the game for giving me this ability and started treating his wound. I looked back at my friends, who were successfully finishing off the mountain lion and it was running away from the cave out of sight. I looked back at Star,"Star, I need you to drink this, you're so exhausted!"

I knew he heard me, but he didn't seem to respond very quickly, taking a few moments to figure out what I needed him to do. I managed to get a few sips of water into him and I lied him down on the somewhat soft pillow. "Okay... let's do this," I didn't have any experience in treating any wounds, but for some reason it just seemed to come naturally to me and I knew what to do. I made sure no more bleeding was coming from the bite and I cleaned the wound. Star flinched, which shown he was still a bit conscious. "Don't worry Star, I'll make sure you're alright." I put the ointment onto the bite and wrapped it in the bandage. Thankfully, enough was given to me to make a few more dressings to make sure nothing gets infected. I gave Star a few more sips of water and let him rest. There was nothing more I could do now except make sure it doesn't get worse.

"Hey Leaf, is Star going to be okay? " I heard Storm ask, I turned around seeing all my friends gathered behind me," I think he'll be alright for now, " I said, then I noticed all my friends had minor scratches and cuts on them too, "But for now, let me make sure those wounds get treated. " My friends made a small, sheepish laugh, not noticing they had cuts as well, and came to me to make sure they had been patched up.

Maybe I am useful to my friends, at least in this way.
