Ava's first week at Hogwarts was finally over. She felt as if this was the longest week of her life. Especially the fact that she was busy with prefect duties. With the one and only, Draco Malfoy.
She was still confused about what happened between the pair on the 1st day of school. Ava asked herself so many questions to herself after that scene. One recurring question that came to her head was, "Had her and Draco had a moment?" She kept telling her self, "No," but something in the back of her head kept saying yes.
Ava's Head of House, Professor McGonagall, came up to her in the Gryffindor Common Room, while Ava did her homework for Monday with Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Ginny. She cleared her throat and begun to say, "Ms. Lockwood, you will be on prefect duty this weekend from after dinner until midnight. I believe you will be accompanied this weekend also by Mr. Malfoy."
"Thanks Professor," Ava sighed. She started to pick up her stuff to begin her prefect duty for the weekend.
Professor McGonagall smiled and said, "Don't look so upset Ms. Lockwood. It may not be as bad as you think." She winked at Ava and then headed towards the portrait hole. Before she climbed through she turned around and yelled to Ava, "Oh! I almost forgot Ms. Lockwood. You're supposed to meet Mr. Malfoy in the Great Hall." And then she disappeared through the portrait hole.
"Great," Ava groaned into her hands. Not looking up from her hands until the end of her sentence, Ava said, "Ginevra Molly Weasley, wipe that grin off your face cause nothing is going to happen."
"You never know. You didn't think that scene on September 1st would happen but it did," she replied, still smiling.
"Ava, what is she talking about?" Harry asked her. Ava now had Hermione, Ron, Harry, and Ginny staring at her.
"At the feast on the 1st day, something happened between Draco and I. I'm still confused about what happened. Anyway, he told me I had something on my face and wiped it off for me but then we just kind of stared at each other. Our faces were this far apart," Ava said. She leaned in towards Harry to demonstrate how close they were. Then she leaned back and continued talking, "Now Ginny is under the impression that there is something going on between us." She paused and looked at her friends staring back at her, blinking. "Which there is not!" she quickly added. "Now before you guys jump to conclusions, I have to get to the Great Hall." Ava got up and walked out through the portrait hole.
When the portrait hole closed shut behind her, there was a long moment of silence. Eventually Ginny piped up and said, "I say they will be snogging each other senseless by the end of the weekend."
They all laughed and begun making bets on when Ava and Draco will be together.
In the Great Hall
Ava walked into the Great Hall, not only to find Draco Malfoy waiting for her to show up.
Draco heard Ava walk in. He stood up from where he was sitting. He didn't make eye contact when he stuttered, "H-hello..I um...uh..L-lets..do you wanna?" He stopped talking and waiting for Ava to say something.
"Come on, Draco. Let's get this over with. We've got 3 and 1/2 hours to go. Where do you wanna start?"
"Well.. I um.. I guess we can just start roaming the corridors. And then end at the Gryffindor entrance at midnight and while I am walking back to the dungeons towards the Slytherin common room I can check the dungeons."
"Alright then let us go." Ava said while walking out of the hall, not waiting for Draco. Draco eventually caught up to Ava and was walking next to her.
"Hey Draco, I know we just started but I forgot to write my brother. I told him I would write him at the beginning of the weekend. Do you mind if we go up there? You can come with me," asked Ava. She started walking towards the "fat lady" before Draco could give her an answer.
They walked for a while in silence. The silence was broken when Ava stopped in front of the fat lady portrait. Draco was confused on why she stopped so he started to ask her. He had gotten as far as, "Ava, why did you-," before Ava interrupted him with a, "ssshh."
"Mimblus Mimbletonia" Ava said to the fat lady portrait. When she said this, the portrait swung forward to reveal the Gryffindor Common Room. Ava walked through not waiting for Draco. He didn't know if he should go in so he stood there until Ava stuck her head through the portrait hole and asked him, "Are you coming or not?" Her head disappeared again but this time Draco followed her to the two couches that sat in the middle of the common room. On one couch sat Harry, Hermione, and Ron. On the other sat Ginny and now Ava.
Ava begun writing a letter on a spare bit of parchment and started writing. She stopped for a moment to look up at Draco to say, "Are you gonna sit down or just stand there?", before continuing to her letter.
"Care to explain why Malfoy is in our common room Ava?" Harry asked her.
She kept on writing while saying, "I forgot to write a letter to my brother earlier and he had to stay with me so I had no choice." Ginny started giggling.
"Shut it Ginevra," Ava said not looking up from her parchment.
"She didn't even say anything?" Draco replied nervously.
"She doesn't need too. I already know what she's laughing at," Ava said.
"Then what was she giggling at?" said Draco a little more confident this time.
"I... Um... I forgot...," Ava said nervously this time. This is the 1st time she looked up from her parchment paper to the 5 people sitting around her.
"I'll tell him," Ginny piped up, "I'm laughing because of what happened between you tw-"
"Well, look at that, we better get going. Got to head up to the owlery. Let's go Draco," Ava grabbed Draco by the arm and ran out of the Gryffindor common room.
Draco and Ava patrolled the corridors up until midnight. They spent their evening quizzing each other on topics and questions to pass the time. At midnight, when their shift was over, Draco walked Ava to the Gryffindor Common Room before heading off towards the dungeons.
"Goodnight Ava. See you tomorrow at 7," Draco turned on his heel.
"Night Draco," Ava waved towards Draco then turned back to the fat ladies portrait, "Mimblus Mimbletonia." The portrait swung forward and she walked through only to find, her 4 best friends asleep on the couches in the common room.
She decided not to wake them, so she headed up to her dormitory. She sat in her bed and started doing some of her homework for the weekend since she wasn't tired at all. All she could think about was her prefect duties. It was definitely odd. For the past four years, they had done nothing but hate each other and now? She didn't know what to think. Things were definitely different. Ava drifted off in her own cloud of worry, strangely excited for her weekend full of Prefect duties.
