Opposites Attract (Draco Malfoy Love Story)

Meeting the Brother

Draco and Ava walked around the castle on prefect duties up until 10:30 PM. They had to meet Ava's eldest brother, Justin, at 11. Justin wanted to meet his little sisters new boyfriend. 

They reached the Gryffindor common room at 10:50 PM. They sat and talked while waiting for Justin to appear in the fire. They had a radio running in the common room.

At 11:24 a slow song, Don't You Worry Child by Sam Tsui, came on. Draco glanced at Ava. He stood up and walked across to the couch across from him and held out his hand to Ava. Ava grabbed his hand and he pulled her up from the couch into a close embrace as they swayed back and forth to the beat of the song.

Draco whispered in her ear before spinning her in a circle, "From now on, this will be our song."

They continued to dance until the song was over. When it ended they both heard a, "Psst, Ava. Over here." Both Draco and Ava turned and looked at the fire.

"Justin!" Ava exclaimed, walking towards the fire. Before Draco and Ava's chests separated from when they were dancing, Ava could feel Draco's heart rate increase at the sight of her brother.

Draco and Ava sat next to each other, facing her brothers head, appearing through the flames of the fire.

"How have you been? How's Auror training?" Ava asked her brother.

"Good. It been tough but I'm getting through it. I miss ya a lot Avs," He smiled at her. Then turned his gaze to rest his eyes on Draco, "So, this must be Draco. I've heard so much about you,"

Ava blushed, "Justin, this is my boyfriend, Draco. Draco, this is my brother, Justin."

"Nice to meet you Justin," Draco said, waving to her brother.

"Have you been treating my sister right? She deserves the best," Justin said, not greeting Draco.

"I believe so. I want you to know I'm very fond of your sister."

"Oh yeah? What do you find fond of her?"

"Justin!" Ava jumped in. She shot her brother a look

"No, Ava, it's fine. I know my answer. I've known it since the day I met her. I think the reason I was so rude to her when we were younger was because I was blinded by my how my father always told me to view things. I'm glad I finally came to my senses though. There are so many things I love about her. I love how she laughs, how she smiles, how she reads her book and cares about her work, how she pulls the best pranks on people, how she puts others before herself, how she's a natural beauty, how she's amazing at Quidditch, how she can see the beauty in others even when they can't see it themselves, how blood status doesn't matter to her, how brave she always is, and I could go on. I truly love her," finished Draco.

Justin stared for awhile at Draco before turning to Ava, "Avs, can I have a minute to talk to Draco alone?"

"Okay, I'll go over to the couch in the corner. Be nice Justin. Please," she warned him. Planting a kiss of Draco's cheek, she headed off to the corner couch.

Once she was out of earshot, Justin turned back to Draco.

"Look, I don't know you, so I have a reason to dislike you. All I've heard is stories for the past four years of all bad things so I have an excuse. Don't take it badly. I love my sisters. My sisters are my everything and I don't like seeing them hurt. That's why I'm okay with you two being together. I see how happy you make her. I saw her smile the biggest I've seen in a long while when she was dancing over there with you. Treat her respect, I'm warning you. I don't know what you did to make her fall in love with you but it's working. Last I knew, you were a boy who called her mudblood and made fun of her and her family. Don't hurt her. Don't break her heart because I will find out. If you do, you'll have to answer to her 5 brothers, 4 sisters, Hermione, Harry, and the Weasley's. There are so many people that care so much about her. That's all I had to say. Have a good time. Take care of my sister please. See you at Christmas time."

Justin was about to disappear from the fire when Draco called out, "Wait! Christmas? Why would I see you at Christmas?"

"Didn't Ava tell you?"

"She hasn't told me anything."

"Oh, well, earlier this evening she asked our mother if you could spend some of the Christmas holiday with us. She wanted you to get to know them. My mother was so delighted. She sent an owl to Ava as soon as she read the letter. The plan, if your parents are fine with it, is you stay at your own house for the first night of break then come to ours until the day after New Years. After that you can either go home alone or take Ava with you for the rest of the break. Well, Emily (Justin's girlfriend of five years) is waiting on me. Best not keep the lady waiting. Hope to see you at Christmas so we can have a man to man talk." And with that Justin's head disappeared from the hot flames of the fire.

Draco didn't know what to think about the conversation he had just had. Ava wanted him to met her family in 3 short months. He was thrilled, except he had an uneasy feeling in his stomach. She hadn't even mentioned this to him yet.

Draco got up and walked over to the couch Ava was laying on. When he reached the couch he noticed she had fallen asleep. He grabbed a blanket from one of the couches by the Gryffindor fire and laid it on her. He wanted to make sure she stayed warm. Draco laid down on the couch near her's and ended up falling asleep in the Gryffindor common room.

Ava awoke around four in the morning. She soon realized she had fallen asleep in the common room. Though she doesn't remember covering herself with a blanket, she was covered up.

Ava noticed a flash of white/blonde hair come from the couch near her own. Draco was the one who had covered her in the middle of the night, she realized. This had made her smile.

She got up and walked over to Draco and laid down next to him on the couch. He naturally embraced her, not waking up at all and they cuddled close, both covered with the blanket.

Ava eventually fell asleep cuddled close to Draco, but woke up two hours later and decided to wake up Draco so he did not get caught by other Gryffindors.

This was the happiest she had felt in a long time.
