~Approximately 7:30 PM~
"So, what's your favorite flower?"
"My favorite flower? That's the question you want to ask me?"
Draco picked Ava up outside of the Gryffindor Corridor at seven o'clock the next day. They decided to pass their time by asking each other questions about each other, since they had been assigned to one other. McGonagall had met them when they started to inform them that they had been selected as partners for the rest of the school year. They figured that they might as well know something about one another other than their names and their house.
"What? Maybe I am just curious about it," Draco laughed.
"You got all bloody nervous to ask that? That's the type of question that you forget in less than a week Malfoy. Ask something with more juice."
He laughed again, with his face going a little more pink. His hand instinctively went up to his blonde hair and he said, "Would you just bloody answer the question?"
"Fine, it's a sunflower." All Draco did was nod at this. "See," Ava added, "it's a boring question. There is no conversation to go after that."
"I believe it's your turn to ask a question."
Sighing, Ava started thinking. Then she got it. This question would really explain everything. Or at least she hoped it would. "Why are you being so nice to me?"
Draco stopped walking and looked at her. She was trying to read his expression, but didn't quite understand it. His face went pale first, and then it went pink. He looked down at his shoes and started playing with the edge of his robe. Looking back up her, he started to speak when they both heard a scream from around the corner.
(A/N: this could potentially trigger someone so I just want to warn anyone!!)
They both took off towards the scream as it continued. It was a girls voice. The scream was changing between the words "No" and "Help" and then an outright scream.
When they got around the corner they saw robe that had been ripped off. Ava bent down and picked it up. It had the Hufflepuff house emblem on it. They both continued running towards the scream. Before Ava could even process what was happening, she was watching Draco rip off a sixth year Ravenclaw that Ava didn't know, off of a girl who looked like a fourth year.
Ava could hear Draco yelling at the boy, but Ava was focused on the girl. Luckily, nothing had gone too far. Ava and Draco were in the right place at the right time. The girls face had streaks of tears of her face. Kneeling down, Ava took off her own robe and wrapped it around the girls body. Thankfully, the guy did not get a chance to do anything else damaging. He ripped her robe and her shirt before they had gotten there. Looking towards Draco, he was dragging the sixth year away from her and the girl, assumably to Dumbledore's office.
"Hey there," Ava said as comforting as possible, "what's your name?"
"Lucy Madler" she stuttered out.
"Well I'm Ava. You're safe now. Draco took that bloody jerk away. Why don't we get you to Madam Pomfrey?" Ava said standing up, and reaching out her hand. Lucy grabbed her hand cautiously, standing up. Wrapping her arm around her small shoulders, Ava started walking her towards the hospital wing.
Once they reached the hospital wing, Ava directed her to sit down on one of the beds and told her she would be right back because she had to get Madam Pomfrey.
Ava knocked on what seemed to be Madam Pomfrey's office and waited her an indication that she could come in. When she got permission, she opened the door and was met with a desk with Madam Pomfrey behind it.
