Young Justice: Assault on Arkham City

Chapter 3: The Frozen Precinct.

Wonder Tower, Arkham City.
July 4, 9:00pm EST.
(3rd Person POV)
Hugo Strange looked out over Arkham City as Tyger helicopters circled around the facility and the spot lights on the observation floor flooded over parts of the facility. It was getting closer and closer to the time at which the deal would go down and a change would be brought over Gotham City. Hugo Strange observed the facility from where he stood, a small smirk on his face as he felt pride in his achievement, in a few short months he was able to persuade Arkham Asylum ward to run for mayor of Gotham, when the elections came around he won by a land slide and with persuasion from himself and his master, Arkham City was green lit and began construction once again.

This section of Uptown Gotham was selected for what it held, everything the Gotham rogues needed to cause mayhem, subway tunnels were blocked off with concrete and the bridges leading to this islanded section of Uptown Gotham were destroyed leaving only one way in to the new facility, a newly constructed bridge that was controlled from Wonder Tower and a secondary control system at the security check point at the main gate, This bridge could rise and sink into the Gotham River, a design not common in the city.

Even since the events in Metropolis, Project Arkham had been fast tracked, unusually fast tracked to the point that it was actually finished in record time. what Hugo Strange's benefactor had locked up under the facility was the true purpose of Arkham City, but no one apart from the benefactor himself knows what exactly it is that is held underground.

So as Hugo Strange looked out over his golden achievement, all he could do was wait for the deal to go down and for Gotham to be rocked to its core.

(Batman's POV)
we walked through the gates of Arkham City, it being unusually quite, the chaos must have spread further in Gotham City but there was still no update on the major rogues, so it would seem as though they were still with in the walls of the facility. We walked a bit further until the road split three different ways and so we came to a stop,
"what now?" Flash asks
"we need to search every inch of the facility" I say
"i'm guessing we're going to split up then?" Green Arrow questions
"we'll cover more ground that way" I answer
"so how are we doing this?" Flash asks
"you and Kid Flash take the left, Green Arrow and Red Arrow will take the right and Robin, Red Hood and I will head up the centre, if i'm correct we should all meet up outside the tower in the middle" I explain and I receive nods in agreement before we head off in our respective directions.

We made our way towards the GCPD precinct in the area passing ruined buildings and streets, the streets abandoned but smoke rising from parts of the facility effected by the chaos,
"this place is creepy" Robin says
"it's like a ghost town" Red Hood remarks
"I doubt everyone has left" I say
"how can you tell" Robin questions
"we're close to the GCPD building and there are tracks leading to it" I say pointing at the ground
"dirt foot prints" Robin says
"who could be at the police precinct?" Hood questions
"your not paying attention to your surroundings" I say as they both look up and around until Robin's eyes land on something ahead of him
"Mr Freeze" Robin states
"yes, I saw it to, the road ahead is snowed over but it's not winter" I say
"what does he want there?" Hood asks
"think" I say
"he's using forensic equipment to continue his research" Hood says
"it would seem like that" I say as we continue towards the precinct
"but that means he won't be a threat" Robin says
"Bats just wants to make sure that's the case, am I right" Hood questions me
"yes, if he's not a threat we'll leave him for now but if he attacks us subdue him" I explain as we stop at the ramp leading towards the carpark to the precinct.

Walking down the ramp, we begin to sneak through as guards come into view of us, but they not just any ordinary guard, they look as though they a military or mercenary. Sneaking our way behind ruined parks police cars, I try to location a way into the building until I feel I hand tap my shoulder,
"above the parking garage door" Robin whispers
"I see it" I whisper back looking at the top of the door seeing a power module on top
"that must control the door" Hood whispers
"we need to give it a surge of power" I whisper to them as I see Robin bring out a bird - a - rang
"I can set this and throw it" he whispers
"the explosion will attract attention" I whisper in response
"not this one, this one is electrified" Robin explains in a low voice
"do it" I respond and he nods arming the bird - a - rang before throwing it over the cars, moments later it hits its target which unexpectedly sounds an alarm as the door opens halfway before jamming in place.

The door jammed halfway up and the alarms blaring, the guards became alerted trying to find the cause of the alarm but we still remained hidden behind the police cars until they calm down and head back to their patrols around the police station. After a bit more waiting I notice the patrol change and the current guards head around the side of the building giving us an opportunity to enter,
"come on" I whisper to Robin and Red hood who nod as we begin to sneak across the open car park towards the garage. A few moments had passed and we had safely entered the police station, heading towards a door Red Hood tries to open it but it appears to be jammed on the other side,
"hey, there's a vent" Robin whispers pointing over to an open grate next to a police cruiser
"I think this is to easy" Red Hood whispers following me through the vent, Robin behind him
"I know it is, so be prepared" I whisper as we make our way to the main room of the building, the temperature decreasing and snow and ice becoming more and more noticeable. We exit out the other side of the vent shaft to a large room, which is frozen over, Mr Freeze is in the middle and turns towards us,
" Batman, Robin and The Red Hood, what brings you here?" he questions
"would you believe we got lost?" Red Hood jokes with an obvious smirk under his helmet
"not at all, why are you here?" Mr Freeze questions again
"we came across your guards outside and investigated" I answer
"as you can see I have kept to myself, Although the Joker has taken my beloved" Mr Freeze says
"what would he want with her?" I question
"bargaining chip?" Robin says
"i do not know, i am trying to figure out a way to get her back, the Joker took her to the ruins of Ace Chemicals" Mr Freeze states
"why don't you get her yourself?" Red Hood questions
"its the heat isn't it? you can't go in without risking your own life" i say
"that's why i reluctantly ask you for help Batman" Mr Freeze asks
"why would we help you?" Red Hood questions
"you will help me or you will die in this building, in cased in an icy tomb" Mr Freeze states aiming his freeze gun at us, Red Hood pulling out one of his guns, Robin a few Bird - a - rangs and I bring out some remote Bat - a - rang explosives, all of us now at a three on one stand off.
